Objectives: Operative strategies for repairing aortic arch aneurysms should be re-evaluated following recent technical advances.
Methods: Of 364 patients who underwent aortic arch repair between 2002 and 2014, 58 were high-risk subjects who received isolated hybrid arch repair (HAR) via median sternotomy (type I n = 32, type II n = 1 and type III n = 25). During this period, excluding patients with type A dissection or extensive aneurysms, 124 patients received isolated open arch repair via median sternotomy.
Background: Beta-adrenoceptor antagonist celiprolol has been widely used as an effective antihypertensive agent. Some studies reported that celiprolol enhances nitric oxide production. The purpose of the present study is to examine the effects of celiprolol on vein graft intimal hyperplasia and endothelium-dependent nitric oxide (NO)-mediated relaxation.

The methanolysis rates of basic amino acid substrates (His, Lys, and Arg) were markedly enhanced in the presence of Calix-Sn, as compared with rates observed with p-hydroxybenzenesulfonic acid (pHBS), which is a noncyclic analogue of Calix-Sn. This catalytic effect of Calix-Sn was not observed for the methanolysis of Phe, Tyr, and Trp substrates.
