Safety and short-term outcomes of robotic-assisted transabdominal preperitoneal repair for inguinal hernia in pioneering hospitals in Japan: A nationwide retrospective cohort study.

Introduction: We aimed to evaluate the safety and short-term outcomes of robotic-assisted transabdominal preperitoneal repair for inguinal hernia in 12 pioneering hospitals in Japan.

Methods: Clinical data of patients who underwent robotic-assisted transabdominal preperitoneal repair between September 1, 2016, and December 31, 2021 were collected. Primary outcome measures were intra-operative adverse events and post-operative complications, whereas secondary outcomes were surgical outcomes, including chronic pain, recurrence, and learning curve.

Uncommon etiology of Cullen's sign and Grey Turner sign.

This case report describes a patient with acute appendicitis presenting with Cullen's sign and Grey Turner sign. This case highlights the importance of the recognition of Cullen's sign and Grey Turner sign in patients with acute appendicitis to prevent life-threatening complications such as perforation and sepsis.

Carbon dioxide embolism during transanal total mesorectal excision: A hint of prevention from a case report.

Transanal total mesorectal excision is a relatively new approach for treating lower rectal cancer. Carbon dioxide embolism is a critical complication of this procedure. We report the case of a 69-year-old man with lower rectal cancer who underwent transanal total mesorectal excision followed by laparoscopic low anterior resection.

A case report of necrotizing soft tissue infection of the chest wall: Effective management with serial debridement.

Introduction: Necrotizing soft tissue infection (NSTI) of the chest wall is a rare, rapidly spreading, highly lethal surgical disease. Radical debridement interferes with the important anatomical function of the chest wall. We report a case of chest wall NSTI that was successfully managed with early diagnosis and serial debridement.

Minimally invasive repair of right-sided blunt traumatic diaphragmatic injury.

Right-sided blunt traumatic diaphragmatic injury (TDI) is a rare injury that is rarely repaired by the minimally invasive approach in the acute setting. Laparoscopic repair of right-sided TDI is challenging because the liver often obstructs access to the injury site. Herein, we report a case wherein acute right-sided blunt TDI was successfully repaired using a combined laparoscopic and thoracoscopic approach.
