Efficacy of low-dose 5-fluorouracil/cisplatin therapy for invasive extramammary Paget's disease.

Extramammary Paget's disease (EMPD) is one of the cutaneous adenocarcinomas. The effective chemotherapy for advanced EMPD has not been established. This study was designed to evaluate the efficacy of combination 5-fluorouracil (500 mg/body, 7 days/week) and cisplatin (5 mg/body 5 days/week) for invasive EMPD.

Background: An effective chemotherapy for advanced extramammary Paget's disease has not yet been established. Recently, a low dose 5-fluorouracil/cisplatin (FP) regimen has been reported to be effective for adenocarcinoma, including gastric and colon carcinoma. However, this chemotherapeutic option has not been evaluated as to its effectiveness for extramammary Paget's disease.
