Poly(glycolide-co-caprolactone) (PGCL) has become a novice to the bioresorbable suture owing to the synergistic properties taken from the homo-polyglycolide (PGA) and polycaprolactone (PCL) such as excellent bioresorption and flexibility. In addition to under conventional monotonic loading, the understanding of mechanical responses of PGCL copolymers under complex loading conditions such as cyclic and stress relaxation is crucial for its application as a surgical suture. Consequently, the present work focuses on evaluating the mechanical responses of PGCL sutures under monotonic, cyclic, and stress relaxation loading conditions.

Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may target several common symptoms of BD. We conducted a systematic review on the efficacy of DBT for mood symptoms in patients with BD.

Graphene-based fillers possess exceptional properties that encourage researchers toward their incorporation in glass-epoxy (GE) polymer composites. Regarding the mechanical and wear properties of glass-epoxy composites, the effect of graphene oxide (GO) reinforced in glass-epoxy was examined. A decrease in tensile modulus and increase in tensile strength was reported for 1 wt.

Al-based, Mg-based, Ti-based alloys, ceramic-based, and polymer-based composites have been developed for the aerospace industry with outstanding properties. However, these materials still have some limitations such as insufficient mechanical properties, stress corrosion cracking, fretting wear, and corrosion.

Three critical machining parameters, namely cutting speed (v), feed rate (f) and depth of cut (d), each at three levels, are chosen as input machining parameters. The face-centred central composite design (FCCCD) of the experiment is based on response surface methodology (RSM), and machining performances are measured in terms of material removal rate (MRR) and surface roughness (SR).

The manufacturing of laminated composites is usually carried out at an elevated temperature, which induces thermal stresses in composites mainly due to a mismatch in the coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) of fiber and matrix. This work aims to investigate the effect of these process-induced stresses on mode-I interlaminar fracture toughness (G) of Glass-Carbon-Epoxy (GCE) and Glass-Epoxy (GE) composites.

Materials And Methodology: Forty-five freshly extracted human permanent molars with Class I and II dentinal caries were selected. Diamond bur group (15): The carious lesion was excavated using round diamond bur until hard dentine was detected.
There is a demand for simulation-themed courses within maxillofacial surgery, yet these are often expensive. With this in mind, we used a non-living chicken thigh model to simulate microsurgical procedures on a training day for specialty registrars. The advantages and limitations of the simulation were explored through participant feedback.

They provide a critical referral service for dentists in general practice, with the most suspicious of these being sent as 'urgent suspected cancer', or 'USC'. According to national guidelines, such cases must be seen within 14 days.

Reconstruction and rehabilitation following rhinectomy remains controversial and presents a complex problem. Although reconstruction with local and microvascular flaps is a valid option, the aesthetic results may not always be satisfactory. The aesthetic results achieved with a nasal prosthesis are excellent; however patient acceptance relies on a secure method of retention.

Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome (BWS) is a rare congenital disease of low prevalence. Its most common feature is macroglossia, being present in most cases. Clinically macroglossia can compromise the airway, cause dysphagia, drooling and poor cosmesis.

Inadequate treatment or neglect of odontogenic infections can have serious consequences. The potential for spreading through fascial planes and intracranially can cause compromise of the airway and cavernous sinus thrombosis respectively. On rare occasions this can lead to a rapidly progressing necrotising fasciitis, with destruction of soft tissue, making reconstruction difficult.

We have designed a form to facilitate referral of injured patients between maxillofacial and ophthalmology units. This form improves communication, gives a written record of referral, and can be used for audit.

Current published guidelines recommend cross-matching 2 units of blood for bimaxillary orthognathic procedures with an additional 2 units if combined with a genioplasty. We reviewed the records of 115 consecutive cases of simultaneous bimaxillary osteotomies at Morriston Hospital over a 5-year period (January 1996 to December 2000).

It may arise as a sequel to eyelid infection, or from direct spread of infection from the paranasal sinuses; it may be of odontogenic origin and has been reported after meningitis and after nasoorbital fractures with pre-existing sinusitis. Clinically, orbital cellulitis is of great importance, as it is a severe disease with potentially disastrous consequences.

This case report describes a dental-phobic patient who employed a rather peculiar 'do-it-yourself' approach to alleviate the problems of hypersensitivity, by covering her teeth with a mixture of candle wax and 'household' glue.
