Purpose: Chemoradiotherapy (CRT) for head and neck cancer (HNC) often causes dysphagia. The risk of dysphagia increases during CRT tends to become more severe after finishing CRT, and persists for a few weeks thereafter. Thus, understanding the changes in swallowing physiology during and immediately after CRT is essential.

However, the accuracy of fo estimation in hoarse voices is notably low, and no definitive algorithm for fo estimation has been previously established. In this study, we introduce an algorithm named, "Spectral-based fo Estimator Emphasized by Domination and Sequence (SFEEDS)," which enhances the spectrum method and conducted comparative analyses with conventional estimation methods.

Study Design: Retrospective study.
Methods: This study included 153 patients who underwent laryngeal microsurgery at a tertiary laryngology center and university hospital.
Objective: Dysphagia is a common complication associated with cardiovascular surgery (CVS). This study sought to better understand recovery timelines, identify risk factors, and create a prognostic model for oral intake restoration.
Methods: This retrospective study included 134 patients who had CVS between April 2022 and March 2024.
Objectives: Hoarseness is primarily perceived as breathiness or roughness. Despite the various tools that quantitatively assess hoarseness, roughness has been difficult to quantify because of its complex acoustic structure, such as subharmonics. The parameter obtained from the two-stage cepstral analysis is promising for evaluating roughness.

Despite its high criterion-related concurrent validity, diagnostic accuracy, and minimal detectable change derived from test-retest reliability, the minimal important difference (MID) of the AVQI has not been tested before. This study aimed to estimate the MIDs of AVQI for improvement audibly perceived by clinicians and self-reported improvement by patients.

Gibberellic acid (GA) is commonly used as a plant growth regulator in many food crops owing to its essential signaling functions during plant growth and development. In Japan, a threshold for administrative action for GA content of 0.3 mg/kg applies in produce in which maximum residue limits have not been established.

A probabilistic exposure estimation was performed using a two-dimensional Monte Carlo simulation (2D-MCS) with a Bayesian estimation that consided the uncertainty of the estimation process. The Bayesian estimation was performed using the likelihood function with cumulative distribution function between the lower and upper boundary values for no-detected values.

These spikes were emitted over the last interval between communication steps by source neurons distributed across many compute nodes and are inherently irregular and unsorted with respect to their targets. For finding those targets, the spikes need to be dispatched to a three-dimensional data structure with decisions on target thread and synapse type to be made on the way.

Introduction: Highly sensitive reagents for detecting SARS-CoV-2 antigens have been developed for accurate and rapid diagnosis till date. In this study, we aim to clarify the frequency of false-positive reactions and reveal their details in SARS-CoV-2 quantitative antigen test using an automated laboratory device.
Methods: Nasopharyngeal swab samples (n = 4992) and saliva samples (n = 5430) were collected.

Progesterone (P4) is contained naturally in animal tissue, and it is also used as a veterinary drug in cattle for treatment purposes. To assess the risk from P4 residues in beef derived from treated cattle, it is essential to quantify the P4 contained naturally in cattle tissue (endogenous P4). Therefore, we performed a method validation for the quantification of endogenous P4 (method quantification limit = 0.

Methods: A total of 500 voice recordings of CS and SV samples from 338 patients with voice disturbances were included, along with the patients' age, diagnoses, maximum phonation time, and VHI-10. Dataset-1 comprised of 338 untreated patients, whereas Dataset-2 included 162 patients before and after phonosurgeries.
Importance: Vertical semicircular canals and endolymphatic hydrops play important roles in the pathophysiological mechanisms of Ménière disease. However, their characteristics and associations with disease progression during medical treatment have not been determined.
Objective: To examine the function of both the horizontal and vertical semicircular canals in patients with Ménière disease and to evaluate the change in endolymphatic hydrops volume during medical treatment, including treatment with diuretic therapy, over a 2-year period.
Objectives: This study aimed to estimate the intertext variability of smoothed cepstral peak prominence (CPPS), examine whether sound-processing techniques improved its variability and diagnostic capability, and evaluate the degree of intertext variability in detail with reference to the CPPS variabilities in sustained vowels.
Study Design: This was a retrospective study.
Methods: Text readings of 58 Japanese syllables were recorded from 210 speakers with different diagnoses and varying degrees of dysphonia, and were divided into six passages.
We investigated the behavior of isoprothiolane and fipronil after nursery-box application and that of isoprothiolane after submerged application in an experimental paddy field. The concentrations of the pesticides and their metabolites were monitored in paddy water, soil, and rice plants. The distribution profile for isoprothiolane mass in the field differed greatly between the nursery-box and submerged applications.

Due to an upper limit on the number of incoming connections of a single neuron, network connectivity becomes extremely sparse at this scale. To manage computational costs, simulation software ultimately targeting the brain scale needs to fully exploit this sparsity.

Based on the structure of typical Japanese paddy fields, pesticide transport process due to lateral seepage through bunds was modeled as a compartment system consisting of pore water and soil particle. The model was validated with concentrations measured by monitoring paddy pesticides in a tributary of the Sakura River in Japan.

Electron microscopic observation on the locus ceruleus (LC) cells of the model rats disclosed low dense areas, destroyed membranes, aggregation of intracellular organs, and increased microglia. Density of LC axon terminals in the frontal cortex stained with dopamine beta-hydroxylase antiserum and percentage of LC cells stained with horseradish peroxidase or activated by electrical stimulation antidromically were low in the model.

From this point of view, two kinds of studies, both based on semantic responses of participants, deserve emphasis. One study assessed the efficacy of the photocatalytic elimination of stains or bio-aerosols from an air environment using TiO(2) as well as the photocatalytic deodorizing efficacy of a TiO(2)-type deodorizer; the other study evaluated the changes in perception of a given aroma while inhaling the fragrance of essential oils.
