Deep red phosphors have attracted much attention for their applications in lighting, medical diagnosis, health monitoring, agriculture, etc. A new phosphor host material based on fluorine-doped lithium aluminate (ALFO) was proposed and deep red emission from Cr in this host material was demonstrated. Cr in ALFO was excited by blue (~410 nm) and green (~570 nm) rays and covered the deep red to near-infrared region from 650 nm to 900 nm with peaks around 700 nm.

Sulzbacheromyces is a genus of basidiolichen that includes nine species scattered on the African, American, and Asian continents. Sequences of the universal barcode of Fungi, the nuclear internal transcribed spacer - nuITS region, are available to all known species of the genus. Specimens of Sulzbacheromyces caatingae were collected during two expeditions in the Morro of Paxixi, Mato Grosso do Sul state, Midwest region of Brazil, in the Cerrado biome, where it was reported for the first time to the state.

Tramadol is a weak opioid that produces analgesic effect via both the μ-opioid receptor (MOR) and non-opioid targets. Constipation is the most common opioid-related side effect in patients with cancer and non-cancer pain. However, the contribution of MOR to tramadol-induced constipation is unclear.

A 70-year-old woman was referred to our hospital for asymptomatic pancreatic tumors. She had a history of hemagiopericytoma (HPC) about 20 years ago, and no apparent recurrence has been observed. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography revealed two hypervascular tumors in the head and uncinate process of the pancreas, and no obvious neoplastic lesions were found in other organs.

Specimens of Leptogium collected in ten localities from the State of Rio Grande do Sul were studied. Sixteen species were found of 28 records mentioned to the state, which represents around 57% of the Leptogium diversity known for Rio Grande do Sul. Leptogium exaratum is proposed as a new species.

New method for transplantation of neurosphere cells into injured spinal cord through cerebrospinal fluid in rat.

Here we report a novel method of supplying cultured neurosphere cells to the injured spinal cord, by injection of cells into the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) through the fourth ventricle or cisterna magna. Hippocampus-derived neurosphere cells, isolated from a transgenic rat fetus expressing green fluorescent protein, were transplanted into the CSF of a rat with spinal cord injury. It was found that injected cells were extensively transported by CSF within the subarachnoidal space, and survived as clusters on the pial surface of the spinal cord.
