Background: Recent research has demonstrated that Type 2 Diabetes (T2D) risk is influenced by a number of common polymorphisms, including MC4R rs17782313, PPARG rs1801282, and TCF7L2 rs7903146. Knowledge of the association between these single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and body weight changes in different forms of prediabetes treatment is still limited. The aim of this study was to investigate the association of polymorphisms within the MC4R, PPARG, and TCF7L2 genes on the risk of carbohydrate metabolism disorders and body composition changes in overweight or obese patients with early carbohydrate metabolism disorders.

Currently, there is an objective need to create fortified food products that allow not only to provide the body with energy, but also to replenish the deficiency of essential nutrients. A generalization of the information published by Rospotrebnadzor and the Institute of Nutrition of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences indicates a deficiency in the diet of Russians of vitamins C, group B and β-carotene and minerals, including calcium and iron, regardless of the season of the year. The identified deviations lead to a violation of the immune status, a decrease in the body's resistance to infections, and other unfavorable environmental factors, leading to an increase in the level of morbidity and a decrease in working capacity.

The Purpose Of This Study: Is a comparative assessment of the phytoncidity of woody plants of different botanical families and genera and the selection of taxa with a pronounced, long-term, and universal antimicrobial effect for use in greening and landscape construction in sanatorium-resort practice.

Material And Methods: The objects of research were 167 species, hybrids, and intraspecific forms of woody plants from 25 botanical families and 16 genera. Evaluation of phytoncidity was carried out using the method of treating streak inoculation of microbial test cultures with volatile emissions of leaves; gram-positive bacteria (ATCC 25923), gram-negative bacteria (ATCC 25922) and yeast-like fungi (ATCC 10231).

The article describes a clinical case of bilateral occlusion of retinal vessels in a patient with Waldenstrom's disease - a rare lymphoplasmocytic tumor of the bone marrow characterized by a complex of syndromes, among which the syndrome of blood hyperviscosity dominates. Comprehensive clinical, instrumental and laboratory examinations revealed that besides the syndrome of blood hyperviscosity the patient also had loci of cerebral ischemia (according to magnetic resonance imaging), ocular hypoperfusion with severe deficiency of retinal and choroidal blood flow (according to Doppler methods) indicating the presence of ocular ischemic syndrome. Since bilateral occlusion of retinal vessels without concomitant vascular and/or systemic pathology is rare, patients with such diagnosis should be referred to a hematologist.

Two models of retinal ischemia/reperfusion were developed in an experiment on rats and structural changes in eye tissues in the early and late postischemic periods were studied. Ischemia/reperfusion was modeled by elevation of intraocular pressure to 110 mm Hg for 30 min with air injection into the anterior chamber of the eye with a special device or subconjunctival administration of 0.2 ml 4×10 M endothelin-1.

Hyperfine interactions of Fe nuclei in FeNi nanostructures synthesized in polymer ion-track membranes were studied by Mössbauer spectroscopy. The main part of obtained nanostructures was FeNi nanotubes with bcc structure for 0 ≤ x ≤ 40, and with fcc structure for 50 ≤ x ≤ 90. The length, outside diameter and wall thickness of nanotubes were 12 μm, 400 ± 10 nm and 120 ± 5 nm respectively.

In this review we briefly discuss the publications dedicated to experimental evaluation of hypoglycemic, hypolipidemic and antioxidant properties of different plant polyphenols. The stages of preclinical studies of their efficacy are presented: in silico studies with molecular docking methods and in vivo studies with the use of genetic and medicamental models of type 2 diabetes. The results of own studies present the substantiation of prospects of using the plant polyphenol extracts as functional food ingredients for diet therapy and treatment of patients with type 2 diabetes.

Several guidelines and position statements are published to help clinicians manage hypertension in patients with diabetes. Although there is an unequivocal call to treat hypertension in diabetes, professional organizations and experts have differing opinions regarding the most optimal blood pressure targets and treatments to lower vascular risks in the diabetes population. The objective of this article is to summarize the most recent hypertension management guidelines with particular attention to the origins and evidence behind these recommendations.

Article Synopsis
  • Reproduction is crucial in sheep breeding, yet the genetic aspects of litter size are not well understood.
  • Researchers performed genome-wide association studies across five high prolificacy sheep breeds and one low prolificacy breed to uncover genes linked to litter size.
  • The findings highlight various biological pathways impacting female litter size, offering potential targets for improving prolificacy in breeding.

Spasticity treatment is one of the key aspects of the contemporary cerebral palsy (CP) rehabilitation that influences on the effectiveness of other methods. The paper presents the first Russian document that unites the recommendations for the BTA treatment of CP and could be used as the guideline for the multilevel injections. The Russian consensus on the multilevel botulinum toxin A (BTA) treatment of spastic CP is based on the international data and the results of national studies.
