Valorisation of bio-derived fluorescent carbon dots for metal sensing, DNA binding and bioimaging.

Carbon dots are quasi-spherical and zero dimensional nanomaterials with unique optical and electronic properties. In this work, a facile and sustainable strategy was employed to synthesise nitrogen doped carbon dots from Terminalia chebula via hydrothermal treatment with a quantum yield of 19.9%.
