Fibrosis is primarily described as the deposition of excessive extracellular matrix, but in many tissues it also involves a loss of lipid or lipid-filled cells. Lipid-filled cells are critical to tissue function and integrity in many tissues including the skin and lungs. Thus, loss or depletion of lipid-filled cells during fibrogenesis, has implications for tissue function.

The mechanisms that trigger, sustain and terminate the regenerative response in vivo are largely unknown. Here, we profile the changes in gene expression in the chicken basilar papilla after aminoglycoside antibiotic-induced hair cell loss using RNA-sequencing.

Understanding the mechanisms of fibrosis and associated lipodystrophy and their reversal may reveal new targets for therapeutic intervention. In vivo genetic models are needed to identify key targets that induce recovery from established fibrosis.

Materials And Methods: Between May 2018 and January 2020, twenty-nine patients with advanced unresectable HCC s, treated with SBRT, were enrolled in this retrospective audit. Patients of Child status A5-B7 and with healthy liver volume, ≥ 700 ccs were treated.
In contrast to mammals, birds recover naturally from acquired hearing loss, which makes them an ideal model for inner ear regeneration research. Here, we present a validated single-cell RNA sequencing resource of the avian cochlea. We describe specific markers for three distinct types of sensory hair cells, including a previously unknown subgroup, which we call superior tall hair cells.

Materials And Methods: Twenty patients, who had undergone bilateral extractions, were included in this study. In one extraction socket, PRGF was used and covered with an autologous fibrin plug.
Objectives: The objective of this study was to highlight the role of lateral arthroplasty along with interposition of the buccal fat pad (BFP) in the management of Sawhney type III temporomandibular joint (TMJ) ankylosis.
Materials And Methods: Ten patients with TMJ ankylosis (7 unilateral and 3 bilateral, total of 13 joints) were treated with lateral arthroplasty and BFP interposition. The bony bridge of the ankylotic mass on the lateral aspect was resected, leaving a distance of 1.

Amyloid fibrils are cross-β-sheet-rich protein/peptide fibrils that are typically associated with neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease. Recently, functional amyloids have been discovered where amyloids are implicated in performing normal physiological functions of the host organism rather than creating diseases. The ability of amyloids to interact with the cell membrane and other small biomolecules exhibits its great potential to be used as a biomaterial for cell adhesion and gene delivery system.

Newer multifunctional superparamagnetic nanocomposites using biomaterials such as unripened fruit of Cassia fistula (Golden shower) and Aloe vera were developed as an example of green approach while chemical modification was illustrated using n-octanol. Two specific model applications were studied for the developed materials-dye removal (Methyl Blue and Congo Red) and disinfection-demonstrating antimicrobial property.

Purpose: The study aimed to compare the effect of dexmedetomidine added to lidocaine against epinephrine added to lidocaine on local anesthetic potency and to look for future prospects of dexmedetomidine as an additive to local anesthesia in dentistry.
Materials And Methods: The study included 25 healthy volunteers in whom extraction of all first premolars was scheduled as part of their orthodontic treatment plan. In this split-mouth, double-blind, crossover, randomized controlled trial, patients were randomized into 2 groups: Group 1 received injection lidocaine plus dexmedetomidine, and group 2 was administered lidocaine plus epinephrine.
Synthesis and characterization of Lanthanum Oxide-reduced graphene oxide (La₂O₃/RGO) nanocomposite and its application as heterogeneous, reusable catalyst has been reported in this article. Biologically important molecules bis(indolyl)methanes are synthesized in mild reaction condition with excellent yield under solvent free condition. Catalyst was reused for four times without any significant changes in the yields obtained.

This might be accounted due to overlapping symptomatology; moreover, nonspecific subjective findings push the diagnostic process to a more perplexing direction. The main loophole in their management lies in difficulty to make an appropriate diagnosis.

Introduction: Despite the availability of wide variety of pharmacological agents for dental procedural sedation, there has always been a continuous search for newer sedative agents. Dexmedetomidine is a newer sedative agent for provision of short-term sedation (<24 h) in adult patients in the intensive care unit setting. It is a selective α2 adrenergic receptor agonist.

In plants, from recent studies it is becoming evident that these translation initiation factors impact various aspects of plant growth and development in addition to their role in protein synthesis. Eukaryotic translation initiation factor eIF5A is one such factor which functions in start site selection for the eIF2-GTP-tRNAi ternary complex within the ribosomal-bound preinitiation complex and also stabilizes the binding of GDP to eIF2.

There have been reports of patients with breast cancer and brain metastases responding well to tamoxifen therapy. We report a very unusual case of intact breast carcinoma with brain as well as scalp metastasis responding well to letrozole (aromatase inhibitor) therapy for a prolonged period of time.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAcute myocardial infarction is a frequent cause of sudden death, and is typically initiated by the rupture of coronary artery plaques. The likelihood and severity of rupture are influenced by the plaque structures and components. Radiofrequency (RF) intravascular ultrasound (US) (IVUS-RF) measurements extend current IVUS imaging techniques and may eventually enable the in vivo identification of these features.
