Pseudo-3D HSQC provides an alternative and easy way to record and analyze quantitative HSQC-data. In the original time-zero extrapolated H-C HSQC (HSQC), three separate 2D constant-time (CT) HSQC-experiments (HSQC, i = 1-3) are acquired, where either 1,2 or 3 consecutive CT-HSQC-propagators are repeated in each pulse sequence, and the 2D integral data from the three 2D experiments is analyzed via linear regression. In the presented pseudo-3D HSQC, HSQC is one of the dimensions and all data is contained within one dataset, which is recorded in interleaved manner by acquiring the same t-value for each HSQC-point before t-incrementation.

Wood hemicelluloses from forest industry side-streams are promising economic and sustainable alternatives for encapsulating bioactive compounds. This study explores their suitability for probiotic encapsulation, specifically for maintaining cell viability and structure. The ability of galactoglucomannans (GGM) and glucuronoxylans (GX) to support the survival of Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus GG (LGG) during spray drying at solid feed concentrations of 15 and 20 % and inlet air temperatures of 105 and 140 °C (outlet air temperature of 50 °C) was investigated and compared to the results obtained using maltodextrin (MD).

Purpose: Castration Resistant Prostate Cancer (CRPC) is characterized by poor prognosis and limited therapeutic options. Glucuronoxylans (GX), particularly crude fractions obtained by pressurized hot water extraction of birch wood, act as potent emulsifiers and stabilizers against physical separation and lipid oxidation. Herein, we studied the adsorption of GX on hydrophobic interfaces to correlate their multicomponent character towards the formation of interfacial layers in emulsions. Dynamic interfacial tension (DIFT) and quartz crystal microgravimetry with dissipation monitoring (QCM-D) were applied to various GX fractions and the results compared with those from cellulose-based emulsifiers.

The role of high-mobility group box 1 (HMGB1) in the pathogenesis of febrile seizures (FSs) is unclear. In our controlled follow-up study, we compared serum levels of HMGB1 (s-HMGB1) in the same individuals after the first FS, during febrile episodes without a FS, after recurrent FS, during healthy periods after FS, and between patients and controls. In all, 122 patients with FSs were included in the final analysis, including 18 with recurrent FSs with a complete follow-up protocol.

Galactoglucomannans (GGM) recovered from abundant forest industry side-streams has been widely recognized as a renewable hydrocolloid. The low molar mass and presence of O-acetyl side-groups results in low viscous dispersions and weak intermolecular interactions that make GGM unsuitable for hydrogel formation, unless forcefully chemically derivatized and/or crosslinked with other polymers. Unlabelled: Nanocellulose is very hydrophilic, preventing interactions with the oil phase in Pickering emulsions. The most commonly-used and effective wall materials (WMs) for spray-dried microencapsulation of bioactive compounds are either costly, or derived from unsustainable sources, which lead to an increasing demand for alternatives derived from sustainable and natural sources, with low calories and low cost. Wood hemicelluloses obtained from by-products of forest industries appear to be attractive alternatives as they have been reported to have good emulsifying properties, low viscosity at high concentrations, high heat stability and low heat transfer.
