The purpose of this study was to characterize survivorship concerns and survivorship program preferences among gynecologic cancer survivors. Women treated for gynecologic malignancy at our cancer center were surveyed from 1/2019 to 10/2020 on concerns and preferences using a 5-point Likert scale. Descriptive analysis and multivariable logistic regression were performed to describe survivors' concerns/preferences.

Hyperandrogenism-clinical features resulting from increased androgen production and/or action-is not uncommon in peripubertal girls. Hyperandrogenism affects 3 to 20% of adolescent girls and often is associated with hyperandrogenemia. In prepubertal girls, the most common etiologies of androgen excess are premature adrenarche (60%) and congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH; 4%).

Objectives: To compare clinical outcomes for stage IIIC and IV ovarian cancer patients receiving neoadjuvant chemotherapy and interval cytoreductive surgery followed by up to three versus more cycles of post-operative chemotherapy.

Methods: We conducted a multi-institution retrospective cohort study of patients treated from January 2005 to February 2016 with neoadjuvant platinum-based therapy followed by interval surgery and post-operative chemotherapy. The following were exclusion criteria: more than four cycles of neoadjuvant chemotherapy, bevacizumab with neoadjuvant chemotherapy, non-platinum therapy, prior chemotherapy, and elevated CA125 values after three post-operative chemotherapy cycles.

Introduction And Hypothesis: For decades, the pubovesical (PV) sling has been in the armamentarium of the fistula surgeon for treating persistent urinary incontinence after successful fistula closure. We report our early experience with slings, and then also introduce a new "tight" PV sling technique for management of post-fistula urethral leak. Our hypothesis is that performance of tight slings might result in improved continence for women with persistent urinary incontinence after obstetric fistula closure.

Introduction And Hypothesis: The objective was to assess the outcomes of a one-stage approach to bladder stones in the setting of a vesicovaginal fistula, performing fistula repair concurrently with stone extraction.

Methods: Retrospective review of urogenital fistula surgeries at Evangel VVF Center in Jos, Nigeria, between December 2003 and April 2014, identified 87 women with bladder stones accompanying their fistulas and 2,979 repaired without stones. This paper examines the effect of neighborhood disadvantage on racial disparities in ovarian cancer-specific survival. Despite treatment advances for ovarian cancer, survival remains shorter for African-American compared to White women. Neighborhood disadvantage is implicated in racial disparities across a variety of health outcomes and may contribute to racial disparities in ovarian cancer-specific survival.

Background: High-frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation of the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (rTMS-DLPFC) is an effective treatment for depression. Preliminary studies indicated beneficial effects of rTMS-DLPFC on pain relief in patients treated for depression, and in patients with chronic migraine.

Methods: In this randomized, double-blind, parallel-group, single-center, proof-of-principle clinical trial, we tested the hypothesis that 23 sessions of active rTMS-DLPFC delivered over eight weeks would be feasible, safe and superior to sham rTMS to decrease the number of headache days in 18 patients with chronic migraine without severe depression.

Substratum topography can play a significant role in regulating cellular function and fate. To study cellular responses to biophysical cues, researchers have developed dynamic methods for controlling cell morphology; however, many of these platforms are limited to one transition between two predefined substratum topographies. To afford the user additional control over the presentation of microtopographic cues to cell populations, a photolabile, PEG-based hydrogel system is presented in which precisely engineered topographic cues can be formed in situ by controlled erosion.

Objective: Embryologically, cardiac chambers differ in their morphologic and contractile properties from the beginning. We hypothesized that a noninvasive ultrasonic backscatter investigation might illustrate the fundamental differences in myocardial morphologic properties of the 2 ventricles during heart development. The goals of this investigation were to 1) explore the feasibility of measuring the magnitude of cyclic variation of ultrasonic backscatter from the left and right ventricular free walls of fetal hearts; 2) compare measurements of the magnitude of cyclic variation from the left and right sides of the heart; and 3) determine if the observed results are consistent with predictions relating the overall backscatter level and the magnitude of cyclic variation.

A 35-year-old woman who developed whitish macules on trunk and limbs at 12 years of age and observed a remarkable increase of the hypopigmentated lesions after her pregnancies at ages 29 and 32 years. Because of the highly characteristic clinical aspect and the light- and electron-microscopic histopathologic findings, we diagnosed progressive macular hypomelanosis (PMH). It is a nonscaly disorder with hypopigmented macules mainly on the trunk and is more often seen in young women.

In this paper we present an algorithm for analysing sets of FTIR microscopic images of tissue sections. The proposed approach allows one to investigate sets of many FTIR tissue images both with respect to sample information (variation from image to image) and spatial variations of tissues (variation within the image). The algorithm is applied to FTIR microscopy images of beef loin muscles containing myofibre and connective tissue regions.

Rapid identification of non-tuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) species is important in clinical laboratories to stipulate the appropriate therapy and to offer a comprehensive infection control. We applied Fourier-Transform Infrared microspectroscopy to evaluate, whether the most frequent species of NTM can be rapidly and uniformly identified by this method using microcolonies of NTM growing on solid nutrient agar plates. To establish a standardized protocol, the heterogeneity of cell growth within the microcolonies and the reproducibility of measuring the IR spectra from whole mycobacterial microcolonies were first studied.

Extended multiplicative signal correction (EMSC) is used to separate and to characterize physical and chemical information in spectra from Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) microscopy. This appears especially useful for applications in infrared spectroscopy where the scatter variance in spectra changes with the chemical variance in the sample set. In these cases the chemical information of specific bands that are assigned to functional groups is easier to interpret when the scatter information is removed from the spectra.
