Article Synopsis
  • The study examined the effects of combining ozone therapy with antibiotherapy on lung tissue in a sepsis model using rats infected with E. coli.
  • Rats were organized into five groups, with some receiving antibiotics alone and others receiving antibiotics combined with different doses of ozone.
  • Results showed that while ozone had some negative effects, higher ozone doses were associated with less tissue damage, particularly in inflammation scores compared to the untreated group.

Objective: is known for its antioxidant properties. In this experimental study, we aimed to investigate the efficacy of in ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) liver injury in rats.

Methods: Male Wistar Albino rats were divided into three groups, where the sham group (n=7) underwent no medication or surgical procedures, the I/R group (n=7) was the control group that received 45 minutes of applied abdominal aorta ischemia and rats were sacrificed 24 hours after reperfusion, and the I/R+ group (n=7) was the treatment group that was given (30 mg/kg) every day followed by gastric lavage for a month before applying ischemia and performing sacrifice as in the previous group.

Pneumocephalus is defined as air in the cranial cavity. Pneumocephalus can result from inadvertent dural puncture during lumbar epidural anesthesia or epidural steroid injection. Presently described is case of 41-year-old woman who had undergone lumbar disc hernia operation but due to ongoing complaints, was diagnosed as having failed back surgery syndrome.

Unlabelled: Accidental caustic ingestions are serious medical problems especially in childhood. Various treatment modalities are being used for the complications of caustic injuries such as stricture formation. The aim of this study is to establish whether ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) has protective effects on experimental corrosive esophagitis in rats.

Objective: In this study, we aimed to discuss the level of knowledge and approach on 'maintenance, calibration and cleaning of anaesthesia devices' among anaesthesiologists in Turkey.

Methods: A questionnaire was prepared with 21 questions based on the Google document system, and these questionnaires were sent to the anaesthesiologists via e-mail.

Results: Overall, 226 anaesthesiologists answered our survey.

Objective: Although succinylcholine (SCh) has side effects, it is among the most commonly used muscle relaxants for rapid induction because of the faster onset of its effects and short effect duration. However, there is no information regarding the frequency of use of SCh by anaesthetists in Turkey. This study aims to investigate the use of SCh by anaesthetists working in Turkey.

Objective: Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is an important health problem that is increasing with the increase in the incidence of obesity. For patients with OSA, it is reported that preoperative OSA diagnosis is made in only 10%-20% of the patients. Therefore, it gains importance that these patients are diagnosed in the preoperative period.

Objectives: To evaluate the analgesic effect of transversus abdominis plane (TAP) block administered before varicocele surgery.

Methods: This study was completed at the Faculty of Medicine, Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, Çanakkale, Turkey, between January 2011 and April 2013. In a prospective, double blind, randomized, placebo controlled clinical study, 40 male patients scheduled for elective varicocele operations were randomized to group T (treatment group) or group C (controls).

Purpose: Intra-arterial injection of medications are related to mortality and morbidity. It was aimed to investigate the histopathological effects caused by two different intra-arterial doses of sugammadex, a new selective relaxant binding agent used to reverse the effects of steroidal systemic muscle relaxants used in surgeries carried out under general anesthesia.

Methods: A total of 15 rabbits were randomly divided into 3 groups.

The aim of the this study is to evaluate the intubation success rates of emergency medical technicians using a Macintosh laryngoscope (ML), McCoy laryngoscope (MCL), and C MAC D-Blade (CMDB) video laryngoscope on manikin models with immobilized cervical spines. This randomized crossover study included 40 EMTs with at least 2 years' active service in ambulances. All participating technicians completed intubations in three scenarios-a normal airway model, a rigid cervical collar model, and a manual in-line cervical stabilization model-with three different laryngoscopes.

Background: Sugammadex is primarily excreted via renal route. We investigated effects of low and high doses of sugammadex (16 mg/kg versus 96 mg/kg) on renal tissue samples of streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats.

Material And Methods: Twenty-four Wistar albino rats were divided into 4 groups.

Objective: The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of addition of caffeic acid phenethyl ester (CAPE) and thymoquinone (TQ) on oxidative and nitrosative stress in the liver tissue of irradiated rats.

Methods: Forty Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into five groups to test the radioprotective effectiveness of TQ and CAPE administered by intraperitoneal injection. Appropriate control groups were also studied.

Objective Ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury is an important cause of myocardial damage by means of oxidative, inflammatory, and apoptotic mechanisms. The aim of the present study was to examine the potential cardio protective effects of levosimendan in a diabetic rat model of myocardial I/R injury. Methods A total of 18 streptozotocin-induced diabetic Wistar Albino rats (55 mg/kg) were randomly divided into three equal groups as follows: the diabetic I/R group (DIR) in which myocardial I/R was induced following left thoracotomy, by ligating the left anterior descending coronary artery for 60 min, followed by 2 h of reperfusion; the diabetic I/R levosimendan group (DIRL), which underwent I/R by the same method while taking levosimendan intraperitoneal 12 µg kg; and the diabetic control group (DC) which underwent sham operations without tightening of the coronary sutures.

Aim: We aimed to compare the effects of three different supraglottic airway devices, the classic LMA, PLA, and V-gel, on hemodynamics and QTc in rabbits under general anesthesia.

Method: The rabbits were divided into four groups: Group C (n=5) control group with no airway device used, Group L (n=5, classic LMA), Group P (n=5, CobraPLA) and Group V (n=5, V-gel-rabbit). Basal values of heart rate (HR), mean arterial pressure (MAP) and ECG for QTc interval were measured and the measurements were evaluated at 1, 5, 15, and 30 minutes after inserting the airway device

Results: The values of HR, MAP and QTc in Group V at minutes 1 and 5 were significantly different to those in Group L and Group P (p<0.

Objective: Diabetic complications and lipid peroxidation are known to have a close association. Lipid peroxidation commonly occurs at sites exposed to ischaemia, but distant organs and tissues also get damaged during ischaemia/reperfusion (I/R). Some of these targets are vital organs, such as the lung, liver, and kidney; the lung is the most frequently affected.
