Nonvascularized Double Metatarsal Transfer After Excision of Epithelioid Hemangioma of Hand: A Case Report.

Case: Epithelioid hemangioma (EH) is an uncommon, benign, locally aggressive neoplasm, and it may present as multifocal lytic lesions with soft tissue involvement in the hand. We report the midterm follow-up of a patient with recurrent EH of the hand that was reconstructed successfully, with a nonvascularized double metatarsal transfer, after tumor excision. To the best of the authors' knowledge, this is the first case report where a nonvascularized double metatarsal transfer has been used successfully after tumor resection.

The Vascular Basis of the Pronator Quadratus Muscle Flap and Its Use in Clinical Cases.

 Pronator quadratus (PQ) is a deeply situated muscle in the forearm which may occasionally be utilized for soft-tissue reconstruction. The purpose of this anatomical and clinical study was to confirm vascular supply of PQ muscle (PQM) in order to optimize its transfer and confirm its utility in clinical situations.  In Part A of the anatomical study, fresh human cadavers ( = 7) were prepared with an intra-arterial injection of lead oxide and gelatin solution, and PQM and neurovascular pedicle were dissected ( = 14).

Acute Traumatic Musculotendinous Avulsion of the Flexor Pollicis Longus Tendon Treated with Primary Flexor Digitorum Superficialis Transfer: A Novel Technique of Management.

Inactivation of trypsin inhibitors in sweet potato and taro tubers during processing.

In order to understand the extent of elimination of trypsin inhibitors during processing of sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas) and taro (Colocasia esculenta) tubers, a detailed study was conducted using tubers processed by oven drying, cooking, and microwave baking. Between 80 and 90% trypsin inhibitor (TI) activity was retained in sweet potato chips up to 2h at 70 degrees C. Among the four cultivars of sweet potatoes, RS-III-2 trypsin inhibitors were more heat labile.
