Premolar maturity index (IPM) for indicating legal age 12 years in a sample of south Indian children - A digital pantomographic study.

Legal age of 12 years has been set as the minimum age of criminal responsibility in many countries. This paper concerned a method for predicting the legal age 12 years based on the maturation of lower first and second premolars. The sample consisted of 900 digital pantomographs of south Indian children (450 males, 450 females) aged between 8 and 16 years.

Evaluation of the Mean Bite Force and Masticatory Performance of Maxillary and Mandibular Complete Dentures vs Mandibular Implant-supported Over Denture.

Aim: To compare and evaluate the mean bite force and masticatory performance of conventional complete dentures (CD) in comparison with the lower implant-supported overdenture opposing an upper CD by using a strain gauge transducer and a test material respectively, in the same patient over a different period of time.

Materials And Methods: The study included 20 edentulous patients in the age range 45-65 years with a good general and oral health. In the first phase of the study, conventional CD were fabricated and delivered to each patient who participated in the study.

Is there any difference in the development of mandibular third molars according to the type of impaction: An orthopantomographic study in south Indian children and adolescents.

Development of third molars and their influence on the dental arch is a major concern in clinical dentistry especially, orthodontics and oral surgery. Lately, their position, eruption potential and development has become a subject of interest in forensic practice. The present study was aimed to determine whether if there is any difference in the development of the mandibular third molars according to the impaction type.

Bioactivities of polyphenolics from the roots of Bauhinia racemosa.

Various extracts of Bauhinia racemosa Lamk. (roots) and the isolated polyphenolics, viz. 1,7,8,12b-tetrahydro-2,2,4-trimethyl-10-methoxy-2H-benzo [6,7] cyclohepta[1,2,3-de][1]benzopyran-5,9-diol (racemosol) (1), 1,7,8,12b-tetrahydro-2,2,4-trimethyl-2H-benzo[6,7]cyclohepta[1,2,3-de][1]benzopyran-5,10,11-triol (2), and 1,7,8,12b-tetrahydro-2,2,4-trimethyl-2H-benzo[6,7] cyclohepta [1,2,3-de][1]benzopyran-5,9,10-triol (de-O-methyl racemosol) (3) were screened for antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral activities.
