Vaginal candidiasis poses significant health concerns that affect approximately 75% of women globally and often leads to discomfort and a decrease in quality of life. Traditional treatments, despite their effectiveness, may cause discomfort and adverse effects, such as vaginal discharge, bleeding, and dryness, promoting the exploration of alternative formulations. In this study, we aimed to develop a novel therapeutic approach for the treatment of vaginal candidiasis utilizing oleic acid containing emulgels made from thermoresponsive poloxamer-based hydrogels.

Article Synopsis
  • Altered tryptophan (TRP) metabolism is linked to migraine susceptibility through its effects on serotonin and kynurenine, which influence pain processing and stress response.
  • A study compared the TRP metabolism and cytokine profiles in females with episodic migraines and healthy controls before and after acute citalopram treatment, revealing differences in TRP levels and responses to the treatment.
  • The findings suggest that migraine patients have impaired TRP breakdown and modulation, leading to increased vascular sensitivity, indicating potential new targets for migraine treatment development.

Today, in addition to many different physicochemical and pharmacological properties of the active ingredients and excipients, the developer of a pharmaceutical formulation must take into account several factors during the formulation process in order for the patient to cooperate to use the formulation accurately. One of the innovative solutions in paediatrics may be the use of medicated drinking straws. For our studies, we successfully prepared lactase-containing, rapid disintegration particles by two techniques commonly used in the pharmaceutical industry.

Article Synopsis
  • Recent experiments have focused on understanding the behavior of nuclear cladding tubes during high-temperature and high-pressure accident conditions, specifically looking at ballooning and bursting phenomena.
  • A new study conducted at MTA EK aimed to determine the burst pressure of these tubes at varying temperatures, which reflects their durability and usability limits during coolant loss accidents.
  • Advanced equipment, including optical telescopes and high-speed cameras, was utilized to capture and analyze the ballooning process, crack formation, and changes in tube diameter, providing improved insights into these critical safety issues.

Mass spectrometry is a highly sensitive high-throughput instrumental analytical technique. It is used to determine the molecular mass, but also gives information on molecular structure amd is used for quantitation as well. Although it was developed over 100 years ago, it continues to evolve, both with respect to figures of merit (like sensitivity) and with respect to applications in various novel fields of science and technology.
