The role of WhatsApp™ in pediatric difficult airway management: A study from the PeDI Collaborative.

Background: Management of the pediatric difficult airway can present unique clinical challenges. The Pediatric Difficult Intubation Collaborative (PeDI-C) is an international collaborative group engaging in quality improvement and research in children with difficult airways. The PeDI-C established a WhatsApp™ group to facilitate real-time discussions around the management of the difficult airway in pediatric patients.

The Angel catheter for the prevention of pulmonary embolism: combining an IVC filter and a triple-lumen central venous catheter.

Pulmonary embolism is common in critical care patients and carries significant morbidity and mortality. Concurrent risk of severe bleeding in this population may prohibit anticoagulation. Ciguatera poisoning.

Ciguatera is a form of poisoning that occurs after eating tropical and subtropical ciguatoxic fish. The ciguatoxins are a family of heat stable, lipid soluble cyclic polyether compounds that bind to and open voltage-sensitive Na(+) channels at resting membrane potential, resulting in neural hyperexcitability, as well as swelling of the nodes of Ranvier. The authors describe a 45-year-old man who developed acute gastrointestinal symptoms in Antigua soon after eating red snapper and grouper, potentially "ciguatoxic fish".
