Background: Venous thromboembolism is the second leading cause of mortality among cancer patients. The Khorana Risk Assessment Score (KRAS) is widely acknowledged as the most validated tool in this context.
Aim: To assess the thrombotic risk in cancer patients using the modified Khorana Risk Assessment Score, examine the association between modified KRAS and soluble P-selectin levels, and document the utilization of thromboprophylaxis among cancer patients at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital.

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought to light the intricate relationship between platelets, soluble platelet selectin (sP-selectin), and disease pathogenesis. Platelets, traditionally recognized for their role in hemostasis, have emerged as key contributors to the immunothrombotic complications observed in COVID-19 patients. Concurrently, elevated levels of sP-selectin, indicative of platelet activation and endothelial injury, have been consistently identified in COVID-19 patients and have shown associations with disease severity and adverse outcomes.

The study aimed to determine the proportion of COPD, associated factors, and the burden of erythrocytosis among COPD participants.
Methods And Materials: A descriptive cross-sectional study design was used.
Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection is associated with an increased risk of hypercoagulability and treatment with antiretroviral agents especially protease inhibitors has also been reported to contribute to this risk. Altered fibrinolytic activity is reported as a mechanism of increased thrombotic risk in HIV patients on therapy. However, this has not been investigated in our environment.

We herein report a case of a solitary temporal bone osteochondroma associated with a functional pituitary adenoma hypersecreting prolactin. Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate the level of VWF in subjects with sickle cell disease (SCD) in Calabar, Nigeria, to determine its role in the pathogenesis of VOC.
