Background: Mental health deterioration in young adults in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic is being increasingly studied. It is clear that the psychological consequences of the pandemic will be evident for many years, especially among the younger generation, who did not have time to acquire adaptive coping strategies before the outbreak of COVID-19. The purpose of this study was to assess the condition of the mental health of students at Polish universities after two years of the pandemic.

  • The study investigated whether a 15-minute relaxation training session could enhance attention and perceptiveness in individuals with recurrent depressive disorder (rDD).
  • A total of 42 participants, consisting of 20 with rDD and 22 healthy individuals, completed an attention performance test before and after the relaxation training, which was based on autogenic training.
  • Results indicated that relaxation training significantly improved perceptual speed in participants with depression, highlighting a strong link between severity of depressive symptoms and attentional efficiency both before and after training.
