Article Synopsis
  • The study presents a method using dynamic light scattering (DLS) to investigate the phase separation of thermo-responsive polymer solutions, specifically hydroxypropylcellulose (HPC).
  • It reveals how relaxation dynamics of polymer solutions change with temperature, highlighting distinct behaviors in different concentration regimes (dilute, semi-dilute, and entangled).
  • The findings offer improved precision in determining the phase separation temperature, providing insights into the stabilization mechanisms of polymer domains during phase transition.

Cyclodextrins are a family of oligosaccharides with a toroid shape that exhibit a unique ability of entrapping guest molecules in their internal cavity. Water is the primary guest molecule and is omnipresent in the crystalline phases stabilizing the overall architecture. Despite the presence of water molecules inside the cavity, cyclodextrins provide a hydrophobic environment where poorly soluble molecules can easily fit.
