Sacral insufficiency fractures can be managed conservatively, by surgical fixation or by sacroplasty. This systematic review compared the outcomes of different treatment modalities to ascertain the best. Studies included in this systematic review were those with sacral insufficiency fracture in elderly patients with some measure of outcomes reported.

Methods: This prospective cohort study linked data from the 45 and Up Study, Australia, to administrative health records. The participants were 24,862 men and women, aged ≥45 years, with diabetes at baseline (2006-2009).
Conventional implants tend to have significant limitations, as they are one-size-fits-all, require monitoring, and have the potential for immune rejection. However, 4D Printing presents a method to manufacture highly personalized, shape-changing, minimally invasive biomedical implants. Shape memory polymers (SMPs) with a glass transition temperature (T) between room and body temperature (20-38 °C) are particularly desirable for this purpose, as they can be deformed to a temporary shape before implantation, then undergo a shape change within the body.

These GABARs are highly expressed within the nucleus accumbens (NAc), where they influence the excitability of the medium spiny neurons. Here, we explore their role in modulating behavioral responses to food-conditioned cues and the behavior-potentiating effects of cocaine.

Aims: To assess the effectiveness and safety of topical AA for acne vulgaris, rosacea, hyperpigmentation/melasma, and skin aging.
Methods: RCTs of at least 6 weeks' treatment duration were eligible for inclusion.

This shortage significantly increases disparities and access to primary and specialized oral health care. Also, dental professionals in these remote locations may feel the access and referrals to oral and maxillofacial pathologists cumbersome.

This study aims to investigate oral health literacy (OHL) in a socially and culturally diverse population of Australian adults visiting a public dental clinic in Western Sydney.
Methods: A mixed methods study where oral health literacy was assessed using the Health Literacy in Dentistry scale (HeLD-14) questionnaire and semi-structured interviews explored oral health related knowledge, perceptions and attitudes.

We present a new method for coherent control of trapped ion qubits in separate interaction regions of a multizone trap by simultaneously applying an electric field and a spin-dependent gradient. Both the phase and amplitude of the effective single-qubit rotation depend on the electric field, which can be localized to each zone. We demonstrate this interaction on a single ion using both laser-based and magnetic-field gradients in a surface-electrode ion trap, and measure the localization of the electric field.

Objective: To determine if baseline linguistic markers in natural speech, as compared to non-speech clinical and demographic measures, can predict drug use severity measures at future sessions in initially abstinent individuals with cocaine use disorder (iCUD).
Design: A longitudinal cohort study (August 2017 - March 2020), where baseline measures were used to predict outcomes collected at three-month intervals for up to one year of follow-up.
Background: There is very little information about the use of ad hoc percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in stable patients with multivessel (MV) disease or unprotected left main (LM) disease patients for whom a heart team approach is recommended.
Objective: To identify the extent of ad hoc PCI utilization for patients with multivessel disease or left main disease, and to explore the inter-hospital variation in ad hoc PCI utilization for those patients.
Methods: New York State's cardiac registries were used to examine the use and variation in use of ad hoc PCI for MV/LM disease as a percentage of all MV/LM PCIs and revascularizations (PCIs plus coronary artery bypass graft procedures) during 2018 to 2019 in New York.
Introduction The objective of this quality improvement study was to assess radiology report follow-up recommendation trends upon detection of incidental renal lesions before and after instituting standardized follow-up macros. Materials and methods A retrospective review was performed in 2019 of multiphase imaging workups on renal lesions (n = 396), including the following imaging modalities: ultrasound, CT with and without contrast, and spine MRI. Utilizing the same collection methods, a similar retrospective set of cases was collected in 2021, 12 months following the creation of the renal follow-up macros (n = 501).

Objective: The aim was to explore blood markers of neuroaxonal damage in AP-4-HSP.
Methods: Plasma neurofilament light chain (pNfL) and glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) levels were measured in samples from patients and age- and sex-matched controls (NfL: n = 46 vs.
Purpose: Chronic diseases are notorious in the way that they interfere with many aspects of a child's development, and this holds true for children with Hirschsprung disease (HD). The present research aims to (1) determine whether the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) of HD children differs from healthy paediatric populations; and (2) explore the relationship between HD children's HRQoL and psychosocial outcomes of parents.
Methods: Using a cross-sectional survey study design, children's HRQoL was assessed using the Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory (PedsQL), while parental psychosocial outcomes were measured using the Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS) anxiety and depression short-forms, Family Management Measure (FaMM), and Parent Experience of Child Illness.
Background: Substance use disorder is characterized by distinct cognitive processes involved in emotion regulation as well as unique emotional experiences related to the relapsing cycle of drug use and recovery. Web-based communities and the posts they generate represent an unprecedented resource for studying subjective emotional experiences, capturing population types and sizes not typically available in the laboratory. Here, we mined text data from Reddit, a social media website that hosts discussions from pseudonymous users on specific topic forums, including forums for individuals who are trying to abstain from using drugs, to explore the putative specificity of the emotional experience of substance cessation.

This report describes the complete genome sequence of a peste des petits ruminants virus (PPRV) isolate from Ethiopia in 2014. The strain (PPRV/Ethiopia/Habru/2014), which showed a normal virulence and relatively low morbidity in the field, belongs to the North African subclade of Lineage IV.
View Article and Find Full Text PDF: Genome-wide DNA methylation (DNAme) profiling of the placenta with Illumina Infinium Methylation bead arrays is often used to explore the connections between exposures, placental pathology, and fetal development. However, many technical and biological factors can lead to signals of DNAme variation between samples and between cohorts, and understanding and accounting for these factors is essential to ensure meaningful and replicable data analysis. Recently, "epiphenotyping" approaches have been developed whereby DNAme data can be used to impute information about phenotypic variables such as gestational age, sex, cell composition, and ancestry.
