Objectives: Previous cardiac surgery is an increasingly common etiology of constrictive pericarditis, but there is a paucity of data on clinical presentation and outcome of surgical treatment.

Methods: We reviewed data of 263 patients who underwent pericardiectomy for postoperative constriction from January 1, 1993, through July 1, 2017. Outcomes of interest were early and late mortality, as well as features of clinical presentation.

Introduction: Intersectionality refers to the interconnectedness of various social locations creating unique experiences for individuals and groups, in the context of systems of privilege and oppression. As part of immunization coverage research, intersectionality allows healthcare professionals and policymakers to become aware of the constellation of characteristics contributing to low vaccine uptake. The objective of this study was to examine the application of intersectionality theory or concepts, and the appropriate use of sex and gender terminology, in Canadian immunization coverage research.

Measuring and understanding "quality of life" among emerging adults in a substance use program.

Objective: This work focuses on understanding quality of life and evaluating a brief quality of life measure in an outpatient emerging adult (17-25 years of age) substance use program.

Method: Mixed methods were used including: (a) psychometric evaluation of the adapted MyLifeTracker (MLT) based on assessments completed four times throughout treatment ( = 100) and (b) qualitative interviews with 12 emerging adults in the program. The study was codesigned, cofacilitated, and cointerpreted with emerging adults with lived experience.

Effects of source of supplementary trace minerals in pre- and postpartum diets on reproductive biology and performance in dairy cows.

Our objectives were to evaluate the effects of complete replacement of inorganic salts of trace minerals (STM) with organic trace minerals (OTM) in both pre- and postpartum diets on ovarian dynamics, estrous behavior measured by sensors, preimplantation conceptus development, and reproductive performance in dairy cows. Pregnant cows and heifers (n = 273) were blocked by parity and body condition score and randomly assigned to either STM or OTM diets at 45 ± 3 d before their expected calving. Pre- and postpartum diets were formulated to meet 100% of recommended levels of each trace mineral in both treatments, taking into consideration both basal and supplemental levels.
