  • The American College of Sports Medicine recommends resistance training at least twice a week for all major muscle groups, but only 20% of women participate in such training regularly.
  • A study was conducted with 116 college women to explore their resistance training practices, perceived benefits, and the barriers they face.
  • Findings revealed that perceived "time/effort" barriers are a significant predictor of resistance training behavior, which can inform strategies to create more inviting fitness environments for women in colleges.
