Access to efficient and affordable transportation options has long been a challenge for many individuals with vision loss. In spring 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic caused a quick shift in the availability and safety of transportation. Using the constant comparison method, open-ended responses from 1,162 participants in the study were coded.

Purpose: Older adults with glaucoma show inappropriate gaze strategies during routine mobility tasks. Furthermore, glaucoma is a risk factor for falling and colliding with objects when walking. However, effective interventions to rectify these strategies and prevent these adverse events are scarce.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFIn preparation for an evaluation of night vision devices, an exploratory study was conducted to gain initial experience with the sensitivity of chosen mobility measures under night conditions. The measures included cane contacts and object recognition distances. Results provide preliminary evidence that these two measures may be sensitive to the effects of a night vision device.
