The Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative and the role and contributions of the Private Partners Scientific Board (PPSB).

The Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI) Private Partners Scientific Board (PPSB) encompasses members from industry, biotechnology, diagnostic, and non-profit organizations that have until recently been managed by the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health (FNIH) and provided financial and scientific support to ADNI programs. In this article, we review some of the major activities undertaken by the PPSB, focusing on those supporting the most recently completed National Institute on Aging grant, ADNI3, and the impact it has had on streamlining biomarker discovery and validation in Alzheimer's disease. We also provide a perspective on the gaps that may be filled with future PPSB activities as part of ADNI4 and beyond.

Dose-response effect of Montelukast on post-extraction dental socket repair and skeletal phenotype of mice.

Bone metabolism and repair are directly regulated by arachidonic acid metabolites. At present, we analyzed the dose-response effects of a selective cysteinyl leukotriene receptor type-1 antagonist during bone repair after tooth extraction and on non-injured skeleton. Sixty-three 129 Sv/Ev male mice composed the groups: C-Control (saline solution); MTK2-2 mg/Kg of Montelukast (MTK) and MTK4-4 mg/Kg of MTK, daily administered by mouth throughout all experimental periods set at 7, 14, and 21 days post-operative.

Global Investigative Site Personnel Diversity and Its Relationship with Study Participant Diversity.

Background: There is little to no empirical data on the race and ethnicity of the global community of professionals conducting clinical trials funded by pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies and little empirical evidence on the relationship between the race and ethnicity of investigative site personnel and the overall and corresponding diversity of participants enrolled.

Methods: A global online survey conducted in mid-2021 gathered responses from 3462 clinical research professionals representing approximately 3300 distinct investigative sites.

Results: Worldwide, including all research settings, the majority (64%) of investigative site personnel are White, 20% are LatinX, 6% are Black, 7% are Asian and 3% are other races and ethnicities (e.
