Purpose: Visual prognosis and treatment burden for macular neovascularization (MNV) can differ between myopic macular degeneration (MMD) and age-related macular degeneration (AMD). We describe and compare MNV associated with MMD and AMD using swept-source (SS)-OCTA.
Patients And Methods: Adult patients with documented MNV associated with MMD or AMD were consecutively recruited.

Case Summary: Herein, we present the case of a 52-year-old woman who developed MP after laparoscopic gynecological surgery.

Commonly, assailants use GHB in secret for the crime of drug-facilitated sexual assault because it is tasteless, odorless, and colorless when dissolved in beverages. Case Presentation: We describe a case of a 15-year-old previously healthy girl who presented with headaches and hypertensive urgency who had severe hypokalemia, moderate hyponatremia, and elevated aldosterone and renin levels. Abdominal ultrasound and MRI with contrast revealed a unilateral mass localized to the right kidney.
Interleukin-2 (IL-2) induces contrasting immune responses depending on its binding receptor subunit; thus, selective receptor binding is considered a key challenge in cancer therapeutic strategies. In this study, we aimed to investigate the inhibition of IL-2 action and antitumor activity of celastrol (CEL), a compound identified in a screen for IL-2/CD25 binding inhibitors, and to elucidate the underlying role of CEL in immune cells. We found that CEL selectively impairs the binding of IL-2 and CD25 and directly binds to IL-2 but not to CD25.

We developed a novel strategy for discriminative detection of SARS-CoV-2 variants based on the plasmonic photothermal effect of gold nanofilms and digital polymerase chain reaction (dPCR) technology. This method consists of the gold nanofilm-based dPCR chip fabrication for ultrafast heating and cooling cycles by the plasmonic photothermal effect, the LED quencher immobilization through the interfacing compound on the surface of the gold nanofilm to prevent photoquenching of PCR signaling dye, and the discriminative detection of the variant viruses from the COVID-19 clinical samples by photothermal cycles with fabricated dPCR chips and a portable plasmonic PCR device. Compared to conventional sequencing or RT-qPCR-based variant detection methods, this technology can be effectively applied to point-of-care testing by enabling ultrafast quantitative analysis with a small device.

Transgenic overexpression of SIRT2 in the BubR1 hypomorph model of progeria can rescue many aspects of health and increase overall lifespan, due to a specific interaction between SIRT2 and BubR1 that improves the stability of this protein. It is less clear whether SIRT2 is relevant to biological ageing outside of a model where BubR1 is under-expressed.

Methods: ASTRO convened a task force to address 4 key questions focused on the appropriate indications and techniques for PBI as an alternative to whole breast irradiation (WBI) to result in similar rates of ipsilateral breast recurrence (IBR) and toxicity outcomes. Also addressed were aspects related to the technical delivery of PBI, including dose-fractionation regimens, target volumes, and treatment parameters for different PBI techniques.
The reporting of errors resulting in dose deviations are well-studied. Less studied is the amount of inconsequential errors that will not harm the patient but could lead to inefficiency. This paper reports an institutional effort to quantify and reduce these less significant errors.

Purpose: The survival outcomes of patients with primary uveal melanomas based on Medicaid status have not been previously discussed in the literature.
Methods: The Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results Medicaid database were utilized to identify patients with primary uveal melanomas diagnosed between 2006 and 2013. The Kaplan-Meier method was utilized to construct 5-year survival curves in adult, non-elderly patients.
Purpose: To explore the association between widefield swept-source optical coherence tomography angiography (WF SS-OCTA) metrics, including nonperfusion area (NPA) and neovascularization (NV), and presence of neovascular glaucoma (NVG) in patients with proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR).
Methods: A prospective, cross-sectional study was conducted from November 2018 to February 2020. A total of 85 eyes of 60 PDR patients without NVG and 9 eyes of 8 PDR patients with NVG were included.
Purpose: To investigate associations between contrast sensitivity (CS) and vascular metrics on wide-field swept-source optical coherence tomography angiography (WF-SS-OCTA) in patients with retinal vein occlusion (RVO).
Methods: This prospectively recruited, cross-sectional observational study included RVO patients who underwent quantitative CS function (qCSF) testing and WF-SS-OCTA using 3 × 3, 6 × 6, and 12 × 12 mm angiograms on the same day. The study measured several qCSF outcomes and WF-SS-OCTA vascular metrics, including vessel density (VD), vessel skeletonized density (VSD), and foveal avascular zone (FAZ).
