Calcium channel blockers (CCBs) are a mainstay for the treatment of hypertension. Here we report a case of a male who after intentionally ingesting amlodipine presented with overdose symptomology. His QTc (corrected QT) was 525 ms (millisecond) on admission, he was treated with calcium intravenous infusion and subsequently his QTc narrowed to 393 ms, but he also developed iatrogenic pancreatitis.

Serotonin syndrome is a condition that occurs following the administration of serotonergic drugs. Interestingly, on rare occasions, it can occur with various drug combinations that can secondarily affect the serum levels of 5-hydroxytryptamin. Tramadol is an analgesic that has mu opioid receptor agonist activity and has also been shown to inhibit the reuptake of serotonin and noradrenaline.

This report describes the first case of naturally acquired inhalation anthrax in the United States since 1976. The patient's clinical course included adjunctive treatment with human anthrax immunoglobulin. Clinical correlation of serologic assays for the lethal factor component of lethal toxin and anti-protective antigen immunoglobulin G are also presented.
