Corrosion is clearly one of the more common causes of materials failure in stainless steel. To manage corrosion, chemical inhibitors are often used for prevention and control. Ionic liquids due to their hydrophobic and corrosion-resistant property are being explored as alternative protective coatings and anti-corrosion materials.

We have developed a novel method for the singlet-oxygen-mediated selective C-S bond cleavage reaction using silver(II)-ligand complexes. Visible-light-induced silver catalysis enables the controlled oxidative cleavage of benzyl thiols to afford carbonyl compounds, such as aldehydes or ketones, which are important synthetic components.

The formation of an electron donor-acceptor complex by 2H-indazoles and aryl diazonium salts in the presence of pyridine allows the direct arylation of 2H-indazoles under visible-light irradiation. This process provides an efficient route for the synthesis of C3-arylated-2H-indazoles, which are important scaffolds of various bioactive compounds.

The headspace was generated from each Pandanus sample after incubation in a tightly sealed sample chamber. The resulting FTIR spectra of the headspace samples were found to be almost similar, but the application of principal component analysis (PCA) effectively differentiated the species.
