The study aimed to compare the levels of IL-17 and IL-23 in pterygium samples versus normal conjunctiva.
The research involved a case-control design with 20 participants undergoing surgery, collecting samples from both pterygium and normal conjunctiva, and analyzing them through immunohistochemistry procedures.
Results indicated that both IL-17 and IL-23 levels were significantly higher in pterygium tissues than in normal conjunctiva, with statistical significance (P < 0.001).
