X-ray spectromicroscopy is extensively utilized for nondestructive mapping of chemical states in materials. However, understanding and analyzing the geometric and topological aspects of such data pose challenges due to their representation in 4D space, encompassing (x, y, z) coordinates along with the energy (E) axis and often extending to 5D space with the inclusion of time (t) or reaction degree. In this study, we addressed this challenge by developing a new approach and introducing a device named `4D-XASView', specifically designed for visualizing X-ray absorption fine structures (XAFS) data in 4D (comprising 3D space and energy), through a multi-projection system, within the virtual reality (VR) environment.

However, despite this pivotal advancement, challenges persist, including prolonged healing times, restricted clinical indications, plateauing success rates, and a notable incidence of peri-implantitis. This review explores the biological merits and constraints of microrough surfaces and evaluates the current landscape of nanofeatured dental implant surfaces, aiming to illuminate strategies for addressing existing impediments in implant therapy.

Background: Outcomes of periodontal therapy in patients with diabetes are impaired compared with those in patients without diabetes. However, the mechanisms underlying impaired healing response to periodontal therapy have not been sufficiently investigated.
Aim: This study aimed to investigate the effects of diabetes care on periodontal inflammation.
Materials And Methods: This prospective cohort study included 51 Japanese patients with type 2 diabetes who underwent intensive diabetes care including educational hospitalization and regular outpatient treatment for 6 months. Dental prophylaxis without subgingival scaling was provided three times during the observational period.
Hydrophilicity/hydrophobicity-or wettability-is a key surface characterization metric for titanium used in dental and orthopedic implants. However, the effects of hydrophilicity/hydrophobicity on biological capability remain uncertain, and the relationships between surface wettability and other surface parameters, such as topography and chemistry, are poorly understood. The objective of this study was to identify determinants of surface wettability of titanium and establish the reliability and validity of the assessment.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the influence of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2D) and its control level on periodontal disease and the number of missing teeth in patients undergoing hemodialysis.
Subjects And Methods: A single-center cross-sectional study was conducted on 246 Japanese patients with end-stage renal disease undergoing hemodialysis.
Objective: Few studies have reported on the impact of oxidative stress on the dental implant failure. The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of hyperglycemia-induced oxidative stress on dental implant osseointegration in diabetes mellitus (DM).
Methods: Acid-treated titanium implants were bilaterally placed in the maxillary alveolar ridge of streptozotocin-induced diabetic (DM group) and control rats after extraction of first molars.
Introduction: Disease non-battle injuries (DNBIs) are responsible for the majority of hospital admissions for soldiers in combat since the Vietnam War The U.S. Army prepares soldiers to deploy through a multistage process known as the Soldier Readiness Program (SRP).

Quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM) adds more precision to the assessment of CvO, but has not been applied to neonatal hypoxic ischemic injury (HII). QSM measures of venous susceptibility and their correlation with direct measures of brain oxygenation and cerebral blood flow (CBF) in the neonatal piglet.

Methods: Twenty-two rats were equally divided into streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetes or control group.
This review investigated whether the adjunctive use of antioxidants with periodontal therapy improves periodontal parameters in patients with type 2 diabetes. A systematic and extensive literature search for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) conducted before April 2021 was performed on the PubMed, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science databases. The risk of bias was assessed using the Cochrane risk-of-bias tool.

April 2021
Introduction: The aim was to investigate the relationship of full-mouth inflammatory parameters of periodontal disease with diabetes and obesity.
Research Design And Methods: This cross-sectional study conducted diabetes-related examinations and calculated periodontal inflamed and epithelial surface area (PISA and PESA) of 71 Japanese patients with type 2 diabetes. Multiple linear regression analyses were performed to evaluate associations between PISA or PESA and diabetes and obesity parameters.
The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of oral hygiene, periodontal diseases, and dental caries on all-cause mortality in hemodialysis. This prospective cohort study included 266 patients with end-stage renal disease who were undergoing hemodialysis. Medical interviews, blood biochemical tests, and comprehensive dental examinations including periodontal pocket examination on all teeth and dental plaque accumulation by debris index-simplified (DI-S), were performed.

Here, the feasibility of the BCLA for total reflection fluorescence XAFS (TRF-XAFS), which has a long X-ray footprint on the substrate surface owing to grazing incidence, was tested. The focal line of the BCLA was adjusted on the X-ray footprint and the XAFS signal for one monolayer of Pt deposited on a 60 nm Au film with high sensitivity was obtained.

Porphyromonas gingivalis is a major pathogenic bacterium involved in periodontitis, which induces systemic inflammation. We investigated the association between the abundance of P.

X-ray absorption fine structure (XAFS) spectroscopy in X-ray free electron lasers (XFEL) is a powerful method to address dynamic changes in electronic states and structures of photocatalysts in the excited state in ultrafast short time scales. The ultrafast atomic-scale local structural change in photoexcited WO was observed by W L edge XAFS spectroscopy using an XFEL.

Generally, surface fluorescence XAFS spectroscopy is hindered by strong scattering from the bulk, which often chokes the pulse counting detector. In this work, we show that a bent crystal Laue analyzer (BCLA) can efficiently remove the scattered X-rays from the bulk even in the presence of solution.
