Background: There is limited data within the urologic literature regarding bowel complications and leak rates following surgery requiring ileocolic anastomoses such as right colon pouch (RCP) and continent cutaneous ileocecocystoplasty (CCIC). We aimed to establish ileocolic anastomotic leak rates in urologic reconstructive surgery and determine bowel-related complications following RCP and CCIC surgeries.
Methods: We reviewed adult patients who underwent RCP or CCIC (2010-2022), investigating patient characteristics, perioperative variables, and outcomes.
Objective: To determine the impact of testosterone therapy (TT) on the incidence of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in a large cohort of hypogonadal males and to evaluate the relationship between TT in hypogonadal males and prostatic interventions.
Methods: We used the 2011-2020 International Business Machines Corporation MarketScan database to identify hypogonadal males above 18 years old and determine if they received TT. International Classification of Diseases, 9th and 10th Revisions, Current Procedural Terminology, Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System Procedure Codes, and National Drug Code (NDC) codes were used for diagnoses, interventions, and medications.

Purpose: Myocardial infarction (MI) is a leading cause of irreversible functional cardiac tissue loss, requiring novel regenerative strategies. This study assessed the potential therapeutic efficacy of recellularized cardiac patches, incorporating fetal myocardial scaffolds with rat fetal cardiomyocytes and acellular human amniotic membrane, in adult Wistar rat models of MI.
Methods: Decellularized myocardial tissue was obtained from 14 to 16 week-old human fetuses that had been aborted.
Objectives: To compare penile problems in circumcised relative to uncircumcised boys, and to determine which providers performing the circumcision have fewer post-circumcision problems.
Methods: CPT codes in the 2011-2020 MarketScan database were used to identify boys who had a circumcision. Uncircumcised control subjects of the same age, state of residence, and insurance type were selected.
Objective: To assess the association between ethnicity and fertility outcomes for men in a statewide cohort.
Methods: We linked data from the Utah Population Database and Subfertility Health Assisted Reproduction and Environment database, to comprise a cohort of sub-fertile men who underwent semen analysis between 1998 and 2017 in Utah. A multivariable Cox proportional hazard model was constructed to understand the impact of ethnicity on fertility outcomes in our cohort.
Background: Microdenervation of the spermatic cord (MSCD) is an effective treatment modality for men with intractable scrotal content pain. For patients not interested in preserving fertility, some centers advocate ligation of the vas during denervation, while others prefer stripping of the vas deferens to preserve the vasal artery, hence preserving vasculature to the testis and possibly decreasing post-operative congestion pain.
Objective: To compare outcomes of patients with chronic orchialgia, who underwent MSCD by either stripping or ligating the vas deferens.
Germline de novo mutations (DNMs) refer to spontaneous mutations arising during gametogenesis, resulting in genetic changes within germ cells that are subsequently transmitted to the next generation. While the impact of maternal exposures on germline DNMs has been extensively studied, more recent studies have begun to highlight the increasing importance of the effects of paternal factors. In this review, we have summarized the existing literature on how various exposures experienced by fathers affect the germline DNM burden in their spermatozoa, as well as their consequences for semen analysis parameters, pregnancy outcomes, and offspring health.

Methods: Using IBM MarketScan, we performed a retrospective study of men with prostate cancer who were treated with radiotherapy and subsequently developed low-grade (LGRI) and high-grade radiation injury (HGRI). Radiation injury diagnoses included bladder neck stenosis, hematuria/cystitis, fistula, ureteral stricture, and incontinence.
Objective: To understand how chronic exposure to industrial air pollution is associated with male fertility through semen parameters.
Design: Retrospective cohort study.
Patients: Men in the Subfertility, Health, and Assisted Reproduction cohort who underwent a semen analysis in the two largest healthcare systems in Utah from 2005-2017 with ≥1 measured semen parameter (N = 21,563).

Objective: To evaluate neurogenic lower urinary tract dysfunction (NLUTD) care providers' current practice patterns, their perceived need for a shared decision-making tool for NLUTD management.
Methods: We developed an electronic survey to assess multiple factors surrounding NLUTD management including practice patterns, perceived need for a decision aid and willingness to use it. Prior to survey dissemination, a panel of expert NLUTD care providers reviewed and provided a critique of the survey.
Purpose Of Review: The sixth edition of the World Health Organization (WHO) laboratory manual for the examination and processing of human semen was recently published with specific step-by-step instructions for semen evaluation and sperm processing. Point-of-care (POC) testing for semen evaluation and microfluidics for sperm processing are rapidly evolving technologies that could impact how we evaluate and process sperm. Understanding the updated manual in the context of these novel technologies is important.

Methods: Eight human uteri, donated by brain-dead patients, were decellularized by perfusion of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) through the uterine arteries using a peristaltic pump. The bio-scaffolds were evaluated and compared with native human uterus regarding histological, immunohistochemical, structural, and bio-mechanical properties, in addition to CT angiographies to examine the preservation of the vascular networks.
Leydig cell hypoplasia is a rare autosomal recessive condition caused by mutations in luteinizing hormone/chorionic gonadotropin receptor (LHCGR) genes in which 46, XY patients demonstrate a wide spectrum of disorders/differences of sex development (DSD) phenotypes ranging from normal female external genitalia in severe subtypes to micropenis or hypospadias in patients with less severe presentations. Although most patients with LHCGR defects are diagnosed at puberty, here we describe the prenatal diagnosis of 46, XY DSD due to two likely pathogenic variants in , one of which has never been reported.

Material And Methods: The present study comprised of two groups of sixteen C57BL/6 mice; each mouse received either an intraperitoneal injection of 30 mg/kg of an alkylating agent or the same amount of distilled water. Testes were harvested 30 days following the injection.
Objectives: Based on the recent advancements in cell therapy techniques, we aimed to evaluate the efficacy of transurethral injection of autologous adipose-derived stem cells, muscle-derived stem cells, and co-cultured cells for the rehabilitation of stress urinary incontinence rat models. We hypothesized that the utilization of co-cultured stem cells could result in enhanced therapeutic outcomes attributed to their more comprehensive environment of paracrine factors and cytokines.
Methods: We performed bilateral pudendal nerve transection surgeries to simulate urinary incontinence in 25 female Wistar rats and employed urodynamic evaluations to confirm the injury.

Background: To evaluate and compare the efficacy of urinary carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (CA19-9), neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL), and kidney injury molecule-1 (KIM-1) biomarkers as predictive factors to determine the surgery requirement in patients with ureteropelvic junction obstruction.
Methods: We obtained urine samples from 161 patients at diagnosis and evaluated their levels of the three biomarkers. The patients were under observation for 2 years; subsequently, they were divided into two groups based on their requirement of pyeloplasty.
The aim of this study was to investigate the rat small intestine mesentery and colon as natural bio-reactors for rat colon-derived scaffolds. We decellularized eight whole rat colons by a perfusion-based protocol using 0.1% sodium dodecyl sulfate for 24 hr.
