Background: Echovirus 30 (Echo30) is one of the most frequently identified human enteroviruses (EVs) causing aseptic meningitis and encephalitis. However the mechanism underlying the pathogenesis of Echo30 infection with significant clinical outcomes is not completely understood. The aim of this investigation is to illustrate molecular pathologic alteration in neuronal cells induced by Echo30 infection using clinical isolate from young patient with neurologic involvement.

Article Synopsis
  • An outbreak of Chlamydia pneumoniae occurred in March 2004 on a Korean island, leading to a mass examination of 137 school students (ages 7-16) to study the infection's impact.
  • Results indicated that 58.3% of students exhibited respiratory symptoms, with various testing methods revealing high PCR positivity rates among patients during both the acute and convalescent phases of the infection.
  • Despite extensive testing, including serological methods like ELISA and microimmunofluorescence (MIF), the organism was not successfully isolated through cell culture, suggesting challenges in confirming C. pneumoniae presence.

Streptococcus pneumoniae is an important human pathogen that causes a variety of diseases, such as pneumonia, bacteremia, meningitis, otitis media, and sinusitis, in both adults and children. The global pattern of growth phase-dependent protein expression of S. pneumoniae during in vitro culture was analyzed using 2-DE combined with MALDI-TOF MS and LC/ESI-MS/MS.
