Although the introduction of human epidermal growth factor receptor (HER)2-directed therapy including trastuzumab, pertuzumab, lapatinib and trastuzumab emtansine (T-DM1) in the treatment of HER2-positive metastatic breast cancers (mBCs) favorably changed the natural history of this disease, most cases of HER2-positive mBC will eventually progress. Poziotinib is an oral pan-HER kinase inhibitor showing potent activity through irreversible inhibition of these kinases. This open-label, multicenter phase II study was designed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of poziotinib monotherapy in patients with HER2-positive mBC who had progressed from more than two HER2-directed therapies.

Purpose ARCHER 1050, a randomized, open-label, phase III study of dacomitinib versus gefitinib in treatment-naïve patients with advanced non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and activating mutations in EGFR, reported significant improvement in progression-free survival with dacomitinib. The mature overall survival (OS) analysis for the intention-to-treat population is presented here. Patients and Methods In this multinational, multicenter study, patients age 18 years or older (≥ 20 years in Japan and Korea) who had an Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status of 0 or 1 and newly diagnosed NSCLC with activating mutations in EGFR (exon 19 deletion or exon 21 L858R) were enrolled and randomly assigned in a 1:1 manner to dacomitinib (n = 227) or gefitinib (n = 225).

We hypothesized that RDW value might predict the intensity of anticoagulation, resulting in higher adverse events in patients with AF taking warfarin. We analyzed 657 patients with non-valuvular AF who took warfarin.

One of the most viable and practical approaches in accomplishing a high metal removal efficiency is the surface modification of natural polymer adsorbents with functional polymeric materials. In the present study, polyethylenimine (PEI)-modified silk sericin beads were fabricated.

Additional physics due to the nontrivial Berry phase comes into play when the quantum well consists of the gapped two-dimensional Dirac material such as the transition metal dichalcogenide MoS_{2} or WSe_{2}. Specifically, in forming the polariton, the e-ph coupling from the optical selection rule due to the Berry phase can compete against the Coulomb electron-electron (e-e) interaction.

Here, we evaluated the feasibility and accessibility of electronic PRO measures using a smartphone (PRO-SMART) for cancer patients receiving routine chemotherapy.
Methods: The proposed PRO-SMART application obtains daily personal health record (PHR) data from cancer patients via a smartphone.
Background: Afatinib is approved in the US, Europe, and several other regions for first-line treatment for epidermal growth factor receptor mutation-positive (EGFRm) non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
Patients And Methods: Treatment-naive patients with advanced EGFRm NSCLC were randomized to afatinib (40 mg/d) versus cisplatin/pemetrexed (LUX-Lung 3 [LL3]) or cisplatin/gemcitabine (LUX-Lung 6 [LL6]), or versus gefitinib (250 mg/d; LUX-Lung 7 [LL7]). We report subgroup analyses according to age, including 65 years or older versus younger than 65 years (preplanned; LL3/LL6) and additional cutoffs up to 75 years and older (exploratory; LL7).

Background: Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is a common type of cancer with poor prognosis. As individual cancers exhibit unique mutation patterns, identifying and characterizing gene mutations in NSCLC might help predict patient outcomes and guide treatment. The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical adequacy of molecular testing using next-generation sequencing (NGS) for small biopsy samples and characterize the mutational landscape of Korean patients with advanced NSCLC.

Methods: A total of 384 surviving patients with acute ADHF were divided into two groups: an anemia group (n = 270, 199 anemia at admission and 71 pre-discharge anemia) and a no anemia group (n = 114). All-cause mortality and HF re-hospitalization were compared between groups.
Purpose: This randomized phase III study was designed to compare the efficacy and safety of irinote-can plus cisplatin (IP) over etoposide plus cisplatin (EP) in Korean patients with extensive-disease small-cell lung cancer (SCLC).
Materials And Methods: Patients were randomly assigned to receive IP, composed of irinotecan 65 mg/m2 intravenously on days 1 and 8+cisplatin 70 mg/m2 intravenously on day 1 every 3 weeks, or EP, composed of etoposide 100 mg/m2 intravenously on days 1, 2, 3+cisplatin 70 mg/m2 intravenously on day 1, every 3 weeks for a maximum of six cycles, until disease progression, or until unacceptable toxicity occurred. The primary endpoint was overall survival.
Nowadays scientist over the world are engaging to put forth improved methods to detect metal ion in an aqueous medium based on fluorescence studies. A simple, selective and sensitive method was proposed for detection of Co ion using fluorescent organic nanoparticles. We synthesized a fluorescent small molecule viz.

Methods: This study included a total of 9,007 community-dwelling Koreans aged 50 years and over who were enrolled in the Dong-gu study from 2007 to 2010. Electrocardiograms were recorded from the subjects using the HP-PageWriter 200 M1771A.
Background: We investigated whether pazopanib maintenance following first-line chemotherapy would improve survival in patients with extensive disease small-cell lung cancer (ED-SCLC).
Methods: This study is a randomised, placebo-controlled, phase II study that enroled ED-SCLC patients who had not progressed after four cycles of etoposide plus platinum therapy. Eligible patients were randomly assigned (1 : 1 ratio) to either placebo or pazopanib 800 mg per day until progression or unacceptable toxicity.

Background: In the past few decades, design, synthesis, and characterization of novel heterocyclic compounds with auspicious biological profile received the considerable attention of the scientific community. Among them, the small and simple organic molecular backbone like triazole moiety have a broad spectrum of applications in the medicinal as well as diagnostic areas.
Objective: The objective of present study was synthesis, characterization, and exploration of biological profile of 4-(2-fluorophenyl)-3-(3-methoxybenzyl)-1H-1,2,4-triazole-5(4H)-one (5).
Aims: Prolonged Tpeak-Tend interval has been shown to be markers of arrhythmogenesis in various cardiac disorders. However, its dynamicity is one of the obstacles to predict fatal ventricular arrhythmia. This study investigated whether Tpeak-Tend interval during therapeutic hypothermia (TH) is associated with ventricular fibrillation (VF) inducibility and clinical arrhythmia in subjects with aborted arrhythmic sudden cardiac death (SCD).

Background: Osimertinib is an oral, third-generation, irreversible epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor (EGFR-TKI) that selectively inhibits both EGFR-TKI-sensitizing and EGFR T790M resistance mutations. We compared osimertinib with standard EGFR-TKIs in patients with previously untreated, EGFR mutation-positive advanced non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
Methods: In this double-blind, phase 3 trial, we randomly assigned 556 patients with previously untreated, EGFR mutation-positive (exon 19 deletion or L858R) advanced NSCLC in a 1:1 ratio to receive either osimertinib (at a dose of 80 mg once daily) or a standard EGFR-TKI (gefitinib at a dose of 250 mg once daily or erlotinib at a dose of 150 mg once daily).
