Background And Purpose: While mechanical thrombectomy (MT) achieves restoration of cerebral blood flow to the area at risk in patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS), the influx of blood flow may exacerbate the blood-brain barrier (BBB) disruption and extravasation across the BBB, and it therefore remains unclear how reperfusion impacts the blood-brain barrier integrity. In this study, we use diffusion-prepared pseudocontinuous ASL (DP-pCASL) and Neurite Orientation Dispersion and Density Imaging (NODDI) sequence to measure the water exchange rate (k) in patients who underwent either MT or medical management and determine its impact on the brain tissue microstructure in order to elucidate the impact of MT on BBB complex integrity.
Materials And Methods: We prospectively enrolled 21 patients with AIS treated at our institution from 10/2021 to 6/2023 who underwent MR imaging at a 3.
In the highly competitive field of material manufacturing, stakeholders strive for the increased quality of the end products, reduced cost of operation, and the timely completion of their business processes. Digital twin (DT) technologies are considered major enablers that can be deployed to assist the development and effective provision of manufacturing processes. Additionally, knowledge graphs (KG) have emerged as efficient tools in the industrial domain and are able to efficiently represent data from various disciplines in a structured manner while also supporting advanced analytics.

Herein, we report the case of a Korean family with familial chylomicronemia syndrome caused by compound heterozygous deletions of glycosylphosphatidylinositol-anchored high-density lipoprotein-binding protein 1 (GPIHBP1).
Case Presentation: A 4-year-old boy was referred for the evaluation of severe hypertriglyceridemia (3734 mg/dL) that was incidentally detected 4 months prior.
In this study, thiol-functionalized ladder-like polysesquioxanes end-capped with methyl and phenyl groups were synthesized via a simple sol-gel method and characterized through gel permeation chromatography (GPC), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Additionally, epoxy blends of different formulations were prepared. Their structural, flame-retardant, thermal, and mechanical properties, as well as volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions, were determined using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), TGA, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), limiting oxygen index (LOI), cone calorimetry, and a VOC analyzer.

Nevertheless, conventional DC culture has relied on suspension or two-dimensional (2D) tissue culture plate (TCP)-based culture system. This culture condition often fails to recapitulate the physiological behavior of DC in real tissue.

Although its clinical treatment largely relies on chemotherapy, SCLC cell physiology in three-dimenstional (3D) matrix has been less explored. In this work, the tumor microenvironment is reconstructed with decellularized porcine pulmonary extracellular matrix (dECM) with hyaluronic acid.

Typically, the implementation of spiral-phase-contrast imaging requires the formation of a Fourier plane through a 4f optical configuration in addition to an existing optical microscope. In this study, we present what we believe to be a novel single spiral-phase-objective, integrating a spiral phase plate, which can be easily and simply applied to a standard microscope, such as a conventional objective.

Materials And Methods: This study included 113 patients who underwent partial nephrectomy for small clear cell renal cell carcinoma between 2007 and 2014. Manual segmentation of the renal parenchyma, sinus, and tumor was performed using preoperative computed tomography images.
A novel thiol-functionalized polysilsesqioxane containing hydroxyl and methyl groups was synthesized using a simple acid-catalyzed sol-gel method to develop an epoxy hardener with low odor, low volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions, and fast curing at low temperatures. The synthesized thiol-based hardeners were characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and gel permeation chromatography and compared with commercially available hardeners in terms of odor intensity and VOC emissions using the air dilution olfaction method and VOC analysis. The curing behavior and thermal and mechanical properties of the epoxy compounds prepared with the synthesized thiol-based hardeners were also evaluated.

Here, we present a method to integrate optical coherence tomography (OCT) and SECM for complementary imaging by adding orthogonal scanning to the SECM configuration. The co-registration of SECM and OCT is automatic, as all system components are shared in the same order, eliminating the need for additional optical alignment.

To address the need for an three-dimensional tumor model for understanding the complex cellular interactions within the TIME, we propose a TIME-mimetic co-culture matrix composed of photo-crosslinked poly(ethylene glycol) hydrogels mimicking the characteristics of the tumor and stroma. Desmoplasia-mimetic microgels encapsulating lung adenocarcinoma cells (A549) were embedded with monocyte- or macrophage-type U937 cells in normal stroma-mimetic hydrogel, increasing the proximity between the two cell types.

Previous photoactivated gas sensors mostly have utilized ultra-violet (UV) light (250-400 nm) for activating high-bandgap metal oxides, although energy conversion efficiencies of gallium nitride (GaN) LEDs are maximized in the blue range (430-470 nm). This study presents a more advanced monolithic photoactivated gas sensor based on a nanowatt-level, ultra-low-power blue (λ = 435 nm) µLED platform (µLP).

By the rotation of an OSPM, which was designed with an integer orbital angular momentum (OAM) of l = 1 at a wavelength of 561 nm and incidence angle of 45°, high-quality SPC imaging was obtained at different wavelengths. For the comparison with wavelength-tunable SPC imaging using an OSPM, SPC imaging using a spiral phase plate (manufactured to generate an OAM of l = 1 at 561 nm) was performed at three wavelengths (473, 561, and 660 nm), resulting in clear differences.

De novo mutations occurring in a parental gonadal cell, in the zygote or postzygotic during embryonal development can result in an apparently sporadic/isolated case of ALS later in life. We searched for de novo mutations in as a cause of ALS.
