Trends in dengue virus positivity & serotyping in Rajasthan.

Background & objectives Dengue virus causes frequent outbreaks and epidemics with high morbidity and mortality. It is important to monitor the trends of the dengue virus and its serotypes. We carried out the present work to study the prevalence of the dengue virus and its serotypes in clinically suspected cases of dengue in Rajasthan.

Hepatitis E outbreak in Jaipur due to Genotype IA.

Purpose: Suddenly, many cases of fever with jaundice were reported from Sodala area at Jaipur. This outbreak of acute hepatitis at Jaipur Rajasthan was investigated for aetiology and subsequent phylogenetic analysis.

Methods: Blood samples were collected from 106 symptomatic patients of acute hepatitis and 39 pregnant females (with or without symptoms of hepatitis) during an outbreak at Jaipur.

Aetiological study of viruses causing acute encephalitis syndrome in North West India.

Context: Acute encephalitis syndrome (AES) is a serious public health problem, caused mainly by viruses. However, the profile of viruses causing AES in Rajasthan is not well characterised.

Aims: The present study was undertaken to identify the viruses causing AES and develop diagnostic algorithm so as to help in improved diagnosis, treatment, prevention and control.
