- Endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) is being evaluated as an effective method for diagnosing conditions related to the gallbladder and bile duct, especially in cases where initial transabdominal ultrasound (TUS) results are normal.
- In a study involving 131 patients with biliary colic, EUS showed high sensitivity (92.9% for CBD stones and 98.8% for gallbladder microlithiasis) and specificity (100% for both) compared to TUS, which had much weaker agreement.
