Effectiveness of estrogen and its derivatives over dexamethasone in the treatment of COVID-19.

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus and dexamethasone is a glucocorticoid widely used for its treatment. Dexamethasone is not used in non-severe cases due to its immunosuppressant action. So, considering this, Estrogen and Estetrol were tested for the treatment of COVID-19 as they all possess a common steroid ring and dislike dexamethasone, they are immunoenhancer.

Synthesis, in-Silico studies and biological evaluation of pyrimidine based thiazolidinedione derivatives as potential anti-diabetic agent.

Despite the advancements in the management of Diabetes mellitus, the design and synthesis of drug molecule which ameliorates the hyperglycemia and associated secondary complications in diabetic patients, still remains a challenge. Herein, we report the synthesis, characterization and anti-diabetic evaluation of pyrimidine-thiazolidinedione derivatives. The synthesized compounds were characterized by H NMR, C NMR, FTIR and Mass Spectroscopic analytical techniques.

A Quinquennial Review of Potent LSD1 Inhibitors Explored for the Treatment of Different Cancers, with Special Focus on SAR Studies.

Cancer bears a significant share of global mortality. The enzyme Lysine Specific Demethylase 1 (LSD1, also known as KDM1A), since its discovery in 2004, has captured the attention of cancer researchers due to its overexpression in several cancers like acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), solid tumours, etc. The Lysine Specific Demethylase (LSD1) downregulation is reported to have an effect on cancer proliferation, migration, and invasion.

Further, despite the availability of vaccines, mutation in the virus continuously poses a threat of re-emergence of the more lethal form of the virus.

Primary obstructive megaureter in children; 10 years' experience from a tertiary care center.

Introduction: Primary obstructive megaureter (POM) is a congenital dilatation of the ureter due to an adynamic segment of vesicoureteric junction obstruction. Surgical intervention is needed if nuclear scan shows obstructive curve. We analyzed our data and outcome of conservative and surgical treatment in such cases at our tertiary care hospital.

Synthesis, biological evaluation and docking studies of methylene bearing cyanopyrimidine derivatives possessing a hydrazone moiety as potent Lysine specific demethylase-1 (LSD1) inhibitors: A promising anticancer agents.

A series of novel cyanopyrimidine-hydrazone hybrids were synthesized and characterized with various spectroscopic techniques. The synthesized compounds were tested at NCI, USA, on a 60-cell line panel and most of the compounds showed remarkable cytotoxic activity against different cancer cell lines. Compound 5a was found to be the most potent compound of the series and it was further selected for five dose assays wherein it exhibited GI value of 0.

Intestinal ascariasis: the commonest cause of bowel obstruction in children at a tertiary care center in Kashmir.

Background: Ascariasis is the commonest intestinal nematodal infestation in man. Ascariasis commonly inhabits small bowel although it can migrate to biliary tree and other orifices. The aim of this study is to analyze the presentation, diagnosis, management of bowel obstruction caused by Ascaris lumbricoides and to study various surgical complications.
