Does previous abdominal surgery adversely affect perioperative and oncologic outcomes of laparoscopic radical cystectomy?

Background: Laparoscopic radical cystectomy (LRC) has been shown to have less estimated blood loss (EBL), transfusion rate, narcotic analgesic requirement, earlier return of bowel function, and shorter hospital stay. The aim of this study was to investigate the feasibility, peri-operative and oncologic outcomes of laparoscopic radical cystectomy (LRC) in patients with previous abdominal surgery (PAS).

Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 243 patients undergoing open radical cystectomy (ORC) or LRC with bilateral pelvic lymph node dissection and urinary diversion or cutaneous ureterostomy at a single center from January 2010 to December 2015.

Robotic-assisted surgery and treatment of urolithiasis.

Is laparoscopic pyeloplasty a comparable option to treat Ureteropelvic junction obstruction (UPJO)? A comparative study.

Objective: To compare laparoscopic with open pyeloplasty.

Methods: The retrospective study was conducted at Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi, and comprised records of patients who underwent surgical correction of ureteropelvic junction obstruction between during January 2008 and December 2012. Patients with laparoscopic pyeloplasty were placed in group 1 and those with open pyeloplasty in group 2.

Recurrent urinary tract infections in females.
