Investigating the anticancer properties of urolithin B in triple negative breast cancer: In vivo and in vitro insights.

Breast cancer (BC) is a leading cause of cancer-related mortality among women worldwide, with incidence rates rising globally. Urolithin B (UB), a bioactive metabolite of ellagic acid, has demonstrated promising anticancer effects in various cancer models. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of UB on the growth, angiogenesis, and metastasis of BC cells using both in vivo and in vitro approaches.

The effectiveness of non-invasive brain stimulation in treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD): a systematic review and transfer analysis.

This study aimed to analyze the transferability of non-invasive brain stimulation (NIBS) interventions in individuals with major depressive disorder (MDD) based on the FIELD model (Function, Implementation, Ecology, Level, and Duration), encompassing function, implement, ecology, level, and duration. A systematic search of electronic databases yielded a total of 21 eligible studies, comprising 12 transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) and 9 transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) trials, involving 1029 individuals with MDD. The meta-analysis of effect sizes revealed positive transfer effects across all domains of the FIELD model, suggesting that NIBS interventions have potential efficacy in improving various facets of MDD.

Comparison of the effect of combined administration of intravenous and intra-articular tranexamic acid versus their administration alone in the management of blood loss in total knee arthroplasty: a prospective, multicenter study in Iran.

We review the existing neovaginal lubrication data and the anatomy, histology, and physiology of penile and scrotal skin, colon, and peritoneum to better characterize their capacity to be functionally self-lubricating when used as neovaginal lining.

Gender Differences among Healthcare Providers in the Promotion of Patient-, Person- and Family-Centered Care-And Its Implications for Providing Quality Healthcare.

The concept of "patient-centered care" (PCC) emphasizes patients' autonomy and is commonly promoted as a good healthcare practice that all of medicine should strive for. Here, we assessed how six medical specialties-pediatrics, OBGYN, orthopedics, radiology, dermatology, and neurosurgery-have engaged with PCC and its derivative concepts of "person-centered care" (PeCC) and "family-centered care" (FCC) as a function of the number of female physicians in each field. To achieve this, we conducted a scoping review of three databases-PubMed, CINAHL, and PsycInfo-to assess the extent that PCC, PeCC, FCC, and RCC were referenced by different specialties in the medical literature.

The Effect of Adding Corticosteroid to the Periarticular Injection Cocktail for Pain Control after Total Hip and Total Knee Arthroplasty: A Double-Blinded Randomized Clinical Trial.

Background: The impact of periarticular corticosteroid injection for pain control after total joint arthroplasty (TJA) is controversial. The present study aimed to investigate this controversy in patients undergoing total hip arthroplasty (THA) and total knee arthroplasty (TKA).

Methods: A total of 42 THA and 42 TKA patients were included in this study.

Transmasculine individuals, considering whether to undergo total hysterectomy with bilateral salpingectomy, have the option to have a concomitant oophorectomy. While studies have evaluated hormone changes following testosterone therapy initiation, most of those patients have not undergone oophorectomy. Data are currently limited to support health outcomes regarding the decision to retain or remove the ovaries.

Neuromodulation of facial emotion recognition in health and disease: A systematic review.

Facial emotion recognition (FER) is the ability to recognize and discriminate basic emotional states from facial expressions. Non-invasive brain stimulation (NIBS) has been used to alter FER in health and disease with different parameters and conditions, but the magnitude and directionality of this effect has not previously been systematically studied. In this systematic review, we aimed to explore the effect of NIBS on FER performance.

SUBRETINAL TRANSIENT HYPOREFLECTIVITY IN AGE-RELATED MACULAR DEGENERATION: A Spectral Domain Optical Coherence Tomography Study.

Purpose: To describe and assess the prognostic significance of subretinal transient hyporeflectivity (STHR) on a novel spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) in age-related macular degeneration.

Methods: Consecutive patients with age-related macular degeneration (AMD) presenting STHR, defined as a small, well-defined, round subretinal, hyporeflective lesion, on SD-OCT and without exudative signs were included. Clinical examination and SD-OCT (SPECTRALIS, Heidelberg Engineering, Heidelberg, Germany) were analyzed at inclusion, 1 month before inclusion, and until the onset of exudative signs during the 12-month follow-up.

Objective: The concept of 'patient-centered care' was touted as a pillar of good clinical practice and endorsed by the US Institute of Medicine in a seminal 2001 publication. We explore the extent to which differing medical specialties have engaged with the concept over the last 20 years and how and why this attention has varied among a sample of medical specialties since 2001.

Methods: Reference to patient-centered care in the medical literature for selected specialties was used as a proxy for clinical application of patient-centered care in those disciplines.

Investigation of Triamcinolone Instillation in the Long-term Rate of Anterior Urethral Strictures' Recurrence.

Purpose: The microRNA (miR)-31 and miR-143 are pleiotropic anti-metastatic miRs, with an expression that decreases significantly in metastatic breast cancer cells. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of miR-31 and miR-143 inhibition on metastasis and invasion in both MDA-MB231, MDA-MB468 as well as the MCF-7 breast cancer cell lines and 5-week old female mice.

Methods: Following the cloning of miR-31 and miR-143 into vectors, their expressions were determined before treatment with constructs of miR-31 and miR-143 in cancer cell lines and normal breast cells.
