Background: Patients with chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) in countries with limited resources have, to date, been poorly represented in registries.

Objective: This work assesses the epidemiology, diagnosis, hemodynamic and functional parameters, and treatment of CTEPH in Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Lebanon, and Saudi Arabia.

Methods: A prospective, cohort, phase IV, observational registry with 3-year follow-up (n = 212) in patients aged ≥ 18 years diagnosed with CTEPH was created.

Aim: To define the role of circulating biomarkers for the metabolism of collagen and intercellular substance and vascular remodeling in the development of osteoporosis (OP) in idiopathic pulmonary arterial hypertension (IPAH).

Material And Methods: Functional hemodynamic parameters, bone mineral density (BMD) in the lumbar spine and femoral neck and the serum levels of matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9), tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase-1 (TIMP-1), MMP-9/TIMP-1 complex, C-terminal telopeptide of collagen type 1 (CITP), and endothelin-1 (ET-1) were determined in 27 high-risk IPAH patients and 30 healthy volunteers.

Results: OP in IPAH was detected in 50% of the examinees.

Aim: To study a hypotensive activity of carvedilol (dilatrend, Beringer Mannheim GMBH), its influence on 24-h profile of arterial pressure (AP), baroreceptor control of BP and vegetative regulation of the heart in elderly patients with mild and moderate arterial hypertension (AH).

Material And Methods: A 3-week monotherapy with carvedilol in a single dose 25 mg/day was conducted in 47 elderly patients with mild or moderate isolated systolic or essential hypertension. The effect of the treatment was assessed by the data of synchronous 24-h monitoring of blood pressure (BP), ECG, by variability of the cardiac rhythm (Cardio Tens, Cardio Tens 01, Meditech, Hungary), baroreceptor regulation of BP (the study of synocarotid areas by the method of "cervical" camera).
