A study is presented of 96 patients with primary cancer of the liver. Hepatocellular cancer was diagnosed in 54 patients, cholangiocellular--in 36, low-differentiated--in 6 patients. Hepatocellular cancer was characterized by an increased size of the cells while they maintained likeness with intact liver cells, were characterized by significant anisocytosis, hyperchromia, reticular cytoplasm.

In electron-microscopic study of the puncture biopsy material in 52 patients with diseases of the hepatobiliary organs in 22% of cases, the liver contamination with the viruses was revealed. They caused destruction of hepatocytes and induced their appearance in the cytoplasma and mitochondria of the protein crystalline inclusions. This was of certain diagnostic and, perhaps, lithogenic importance.

The authors studied results of treatment of acute erosions and ulcers of the digestive organs that developed in 43 patients after different operative interventions. Twenty-one patients developed uncomplicated erosions and ulcers, 20--complicated hemorrhages and 2--perforations. Follow-up terms--from 1 to 7 years.
