Peyronie's disease (PD) is an underdiagnosed and undertreated fibroproliferative disorder associated with the formation of plaques that results in penile curvature and discourages some men from seeking medical consultation. The PD self-assessment app, a digital application (app), was developed to increase PD awareness, provide men with a self-screening and educational tool for PD, and help eliminate barriers to seeking consultation with a physician. Prior to deployment, 4 board-certified urologists provided qualitative reviews on the app's usability and utility as a screening tool.

Introduction: Testosterone deficiency is a clinical disorder due to either failure of the testes to produce testosterone or failure of the hypothalamus or pituitary to produce sufficient gonadotropins. Previous formulations of oral testosterone therapy, particularly methyltestosterone, have been associated with adverse liver effects. Many different routes of testosterone delivery have been developed, each with their own administrative benefits and challenges.

Article Synopsis
  • Collagenase clostridium histolyticum (CCH) therapy for Peyronie's disease shows 50% to 67% patient satisfaction within a year, but long-term satisfaction data is sparse.
  • A study surveyed 242 patients treated with CCH over 13 years, finding only 32.9% responded, with 42.5% reporting long-term satisfaction at an average of 5.1 years post-treatment.
  • Factors influencing satisfaction included older age and greater curvature/plaque volume after treatment; those with depression or who had surgery had even lower satisfaction scores, highlighting the complexity of treatment satisfaction.

The asymmetric ring-opening reaction of 3,3-substituted oxetanes catalyzed by chiral phosphoric acid (CPA) derived from a newly developed SPHENOL (2,2',3,3'-tetrahydro-1,1'-spirobi[phenalene]-9,9'-diol) framework was investigated by performing density functional calculations. The plausible transition states were traced by considering the oxetane activation mode. The energy profiles obtained for various substrates provide a rational understanding of the reaction at the atomic level.

Introduction: Traditional reservoir placement (RP) into the space of Retzius during three-piece inflatable penile prosthesis implantation has been associated with serious bladder, iliac vessel, and bowel complications, encouraging the development of "ectopic" RP methods.

Objectives: In this study we sought to document an up-to-date, comprehensive analysis of ectopic RP techniques regarding both patient satisfaction and clinical complications.

Methods: A PubMed, Ovid MEDLINE, and Cochrane Library literature search of English language articles from 1966 to 2023 with keywords "inflatable," "penile prosthesis," "reservoir," and "placement" gave 179 publications, 70 of which were included in a comprehensive chronology and investigation after review.

Traditionally, semen analysis has been viewed solely as a tool for assessing male fertility. However, emerging research suggests that abnormal semen parameters may serve as indicators of broader health issues beyond reproductive function. Studies have revealed significant associations between abnormal semen parameters and an increased risk of chronic diseases such as prostate cancer, diabetes, ischemic heart disease, and metabolic disorders.
