Objective: Raloxifene hydrochloride (RLX) is used extensively in the treatment of osteoporosis, only 2% of RLX's bioavailability remains after a significant first pass metabolism. Besides coming from BCS class II, RLX is not very soluble in water. Thus, the goal of the current study was to improve RLX solubility by creating an inclusion complex using β cyclodextrin (β-CD) as a carrier and solid dispersion with Poloxamer 407.

Background: Impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) and impaired fasting glucose (IFG) are both intermediate stages that exist between normal glucose tolerance and overt type 2 diabetes. Epidemiological studies demonstrated that the two categories define distinct populations. In this study, we examined the contributions of insulin resistance and beta-cell dysfunction to both states in overweight subjects of Arab origin.

The study deals with evaluation of pulmonary function status in fifty normal pregnant women tested monthly. The parameters studied were Vital Capacity (VC) Forced Vital Capacity (FVC) and Forced Expiratory Volume in 1st second (FEV1) using Vitalograph Spirometer; tidal volume (VT), inspiratory capacity (IC) and expiratory reserve volume (ERV) using Expirograph and resting minute ventilation (VE) using Tissot's spirometer. Control values were obtained in the same subject 8-10 weeks after delivery.

This study presents a composite picture of haemoglobin (Hb), serum level of iron (SI), total iron binding capacity (TIBC) and percent iron saturation of transferrin in women during different trimesters of pregnancy and postpartum period. The results were correlated with age and parity. A total of 75 subjects, 15 from each trimester and 15 postpartal, were studied and compared with 15 nonpregnant normal subjects.

Serum total proteins and the various protein fractions were studied in fifty cases of lepromatous leprosy and in eleven cases of lepromatous leprosy with lepra reaction. The study revealed a significant increase in serum total proteins in both lepromatous leprosy and lepra reaction groups, when compared with normal healthy subjects. The percentage rise was found to be 14.
