Introduction: Multiple primary cancers (MPCs) have attracted attention in medical research due to their increasing incidence. The coexistence of invasive breast carcinoma and clear cell carcinoma of the kidney, alongside a family history of cancer, highlights the multifactorial origins of MPCs, particularly their potential association with genetic factors.

Case Presentation: A 70-year-old female initially sought medical attention for a two-year history of a right breast lump as her primary concerns centered on the long-standing lump.

Due to an identified need to have realistic geometries and boundary conditions of vintage unreinforced masonry (URM) parapets and gable ends, this data collection study was conducted to document prevalent typologies of URM buildings in the Australian State of Queensland. Street surveys were completed in 7 towns and included measurement of the building geometry and the documentation of the other building construction details that were ascertainable using a brief external evaluation. To collect the data, firstly the historical statistical records from Colonial Australia were interrogated to determine regions with the largest potential stocks of vintage URM buildings.

Noble metal nanoparticles (NMNPs) are viable alternative green sources compared to the chemical available methods in several approach like Food, medical, biotechnology, and textile industries. The biological synthesis of platinum nanoparticles (PtNPs), as a strong photocatalytic agent, has proved as more effective and safer method. In this study, PtNPs were synthesized at four different temperatures (25 °C, 50 °C, 70 °C, and 100 °C).

Herein for the first time a novel acid phosphatase from the seedlings of Cichorium intybus was purified to homogeneity by using various chromatographic techniques (salt precipitation, ion exchange, size exclusion and affinity chromatography) and thermodynamically characterized. The molecular mass of purified enzyme (66 kDa) was determined by SDS-PAGE under denaturing and non-denaturing conditions and by gel-filtration confirmed as dimer of molecular mass 130 kDa. The Michaelis-Menten (K) constant for -p-NPP (0.

Article Synopsis
  • A novel method was created to make hydrogels using gum arabic and acrylic acid, with iron as a cross-linking agent, resulting in strong and self-healing materials.
  • The mechanical properties and self-healing capabilities of the hydrogels varied with the amounts of gum arabic and iron, with higher iron content improving self-healing to 70%.
  • These hydrogels demonstrated excellent fatigue resistance, lasting up to 20 cycles under stress, and indicated high environmental stability with minimal water content.

Background: Although there are many studies on the characteristics of miRNA-mRNA interactions using miRNA and mRNA sequencing data, the complexity of the change of the correlation coefficients and expression values of the miRNA-mRNA pairs between tumor and normal samples is still not resolved, and this hinders the potential clinical applications. There is an urgent need to develop innovative methodologies and tools that can characterize and visualize functional consequences of cancer risk gene and miRNA pairs while analyzing the tumor and normal samples simultaneously.

Results: We developed an innovative bioinformatics tool for visualizing functional annotation of miRNA-mRNA pairs in a network, known as MMiRNA-Viewer.

A novel zwitterionic superabsorbent polymer hydrogel [ZI-SAH] was synthesized by free radical polymerization and used for the removal of crystal violet (CV) and congo red (CR) from an aqueous medium. ZI-SAH was composed of pH-sensitive monomers poly(3-acrylamidopropyl) trimethylammoniumchloride (APTMACl) and 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulphonic acid (AAMPSA). The hydrogel was characterized by SEM and FT-IR spectroscopy, while the visco-elastic behavior was studied using rheological tests.

One obstacle in de novo protein design is the vast sequence space that needs to be searched through to obtain functional proteins. We developed a new method using structural profiles created from evolutionarily related proteins to constrain the simulation search process, with functions specified by atomic-level ligand-protein binding interactions. The approach was applied to redesigning the BIR3 domain of the X-linked inhibitor of apoptosis protein (XIAP), whose primary function is to suppress the cell death by inhibiting caspase-9 activity; however, the function of the wild-type XIAP can be eliminated by the binding of Smac peptides.

EvoDesign is a computational algorithm that allows the rapid creation of new protein sequences that are compatible with specific protein structures. As such, it can be used to optimize protein stability, to resculpt the protein surface to eliminate undesired protein-protein interactions, and to optimize protein-protein binding. A major distinguishing feature of EvoDesign in comparison to other protein design programs is the use of evolutionary information in the design process to guide the sequence search toward native-like sequences known to adopt structurally similar folds as the target.
