Neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) are not commonly diagnosed in children. Metastatic NETs tend to have poor outcomes, and this is seen in adult and pediatric populations. The role of somatostatin receptor imaging using [Ga]Ga-DOTA-TATE for imaging and peptide receptor radionuclide therapy (PRRT) with [Lu]Lu-DOTA-TATE in children is currently not well established.

This review paper will discuss the use of positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) in paediatric oncology. Functional imaging with PET/CT has proven useful to guide treatment by accurately staging disease and limiting unnecessary treatments by determining the metabolic response to treatment. F-Fluorodeoxyglucose (2-[F]FDG) PET/CT is routinely used in patients with lymphoma.

Objectives: This study aimed to determine the correlation of [Ga]Ga-NODAGA uptake in atherosclerotic plaques and the cardiovascular risk profile of patients imaged with positron emission tomography (PET), wherein quantification of uptake was determined by atherosclerotic plaque maximum target-to-background ratio (TBRmax). We also correlated uptake with a history of cardiovascular events.

Methods: We included patients who underwent PET/CT imaging post-injection of [Ga] Ga-NODAGA.

Prostate adenocarcinoma (PCa) is a leading cause of mortality. Black males with high-risk PCa have a poorer prognosis compared to white males. Patients with International Society of Urological Pathology (ISUP) Grade Group (GG) 1 and 2 PCa have little potential for metastases post radical prostatectomy.

Purpose: Actinium-225-labeled prostate-specific membrane antigen ([Ac]Ac-PSMA-617) is safe and effective in the treatment of metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC). No study has specifically assessed its safety in patients with extensive skeletal metastases of mCRPC. We aimed to investigate the hematologic toxicity and efficacy of [Ac]Ac-PSMA-617 therapy in patients with extensive skeletal metastases of mCRPC.

Malignant melanoma is one of the more aggressive cancers in the skin, with an increasing incidence every year. Melanoma has a better prognosis if diagnosed early and survival tends to decrease once the disease has metastasized. Positron emission tomography (PET) with 2-[F]fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose (F-FDG) has been used extensively over the past two decades in staging and assessing responses to therapy in patients with melanoma.

Hypoxia in cervical cancer has been associated with a poor prognosis. Over the years Ga labelled nitroimidazoles have been studied and have shown improved kinetics. We present our initial experience of hypoxia Positron Emission Tomography (PET) imaging in cervical cancer with Ga-Nitroimidazole derivative and the correlation with F-FDG PET/CT and immunohistochemistry.
