Sustained monomorphic ventricular tachycardia as the presenting sign of Chagas' cardiomyopathy in a low prevalence setting, diagnosis and management challenges. A case report.

Approximately 300,000 people in the United States are estimated to have Chagas' disease, with cardiac manifestations including arrhythmias occurring in 20%-30% of patients. We report a patient diagnosed with Chagas' cardiomyopathy after presenting in ventricular tachycardia. This patient was asymptomatic before her presentation with recurrent episodes of ventricular tachycardia, which motivated us to screen her since she was an immigrant from an endemic Chagas region.

Context: Medicaid expansion has been nationally shown to improve engagement in the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) treatment and prevention continua, which are vital steps to stopping the HIV epidemic. New HIV infections in the United States are disproportionately concentrated among young Black men who have sex with men (YBMSM). Houston, TX, is the most populous city in the Southern United States with a racially/ethnically diverse population that is located in 1 of 11 US states that have not yet expanded Medicaid coverage as of 2021.

Context: In order to create a more diverse workforce, there is a need to involve historically excluded youth in public health-related work. Youth involvement in asset-based work experience approaches is especially relevant for rural areas with workforce shortages.

We sought to assess agreement of cardiac output estimation between continuous pulmonary artery catheter (PAC) guided thermodilution (CO-CTD) and a novel pulse wave analysis (PWA) method that performs an analysis of multiple beats of the arterial blood pressure waveform (CO-MBA) in post-operative cardiac surgery patients. PAC obtained CO-CTD measurements were compared with CO-MBA measurements from the Argos monitor (Retia Medical; Valhalla, NY, USA), in prospectively enrolled adult cardiac surgical intensive care unit patients. Agreement was assessed via Bland-Altman analysis.

Introduction: The goal of this investigation is to assess the association between prehospital use of aspirin (ASA) and patient-centered outcomes in a large global cohort of hospitalized COVID-19 patients.

Methods: This study utilizes data from the Society of Critical Care Medicine Discovery Viral Infection and Respiratory Illness Universal Study (VIRUS) Registry. Adult patients hospitalized from February 15th, 2020, to September 30th, 2021, were included.

Community Mitigation Strategies, Mobility, and COVID-19 Incidence Across Three Waves in the United States in 2020.

Background: Summarizing the impact of community-based mitigation strategies and mobility on COVID-19 infections throughout the pandemic is critical for informing responses and future infectious disease outbreaks. Here, we employed time-series analyses to empirically investigate the relationships between mitigation strategies and mobility on COVID-19 incident cases across US states during the first three waves of infections.

Methods: We linked data on daily COVID-19 incidence by US state from March to December 2020 with the stringency index, a well-known index capturing the strictness of mitigation strategies, and the trip ratio, which measures the ratio of the number of trips taken per day compared with the same day in 2019.

Perceptions and Attitudes of Patients and Their Family Caregivers on Nebulization Therapy for COPD.

Purpose: The aim of the survey was to evaluate attitudes and perceptions toward nebulization therapy for the management of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in Indian population.

Patients And Methods: A cross-sectional, multicenter, quantitative survey was conducted from July to August 2019 among 103 COPD patients [>40 years, either gender, belonging to socio-economic class (SEC) A or SEC B] and their family caregivers. One-on-one interviews were conducted telephonically via an online survey platform (KoBo data collection tool) using a structured questionnaire.
