Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to compare the effects of NiTi closed-coil springs and elastomeric chains on apical root resorption and alveolar bone changes after maxillary canine closure in patients with Angle Class I malocclusion.
  • A randomized clinical trial involving 31 adults used cone-beam computed tomography and cephalometric radiographs before and after treatment to measure the outcomes.
  • Both appliances caused similar tooth root resorption, with no statistically significant difference in root length change; however, both treatments positively affected alveolar bone levels significantly.

Aim: This article aims to report a case of face mask therapy and comprehensive orthodontic treatment for skeletal class III malocclusion in a 16-year-old girl.

Background: Treating skeletal class III malocclusion in a growing patient is crucial, as it can help avoid the need for additional surgery. Early treatment also lessens the negative impacts of the patient's facial abnormality on their social life because surgery is only done later.
