Frequencies of different blood group antigens and phenotypes in Northern Vietnamese donors.

Background And Objectives: Blood safety is the top priority in transfusion medicine. However, patients in Vietnam are only transfused with ABO and RhD compatible blood products, which could pose a threat to induce alloimmunization. This study was performed to provide information about the frequencies of antigens and phenotypes of clinically significant blood groups in Vietnamese donors.

Therapeutic thrombocytapheresis in myeloproliferative neoplasms: A single-institution experience.

Thrombocytosis is usually seen in myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs) and associated with thrombohemorrhagic complications. Therapeutic thrombocytapheresis using an automatic cell separator can help to achieve prompt platelet count reduction to decrease the rate of thrombotic events. In this study, we report a single center's experience in managing MPN patients with thrombocytapheresis prior to chemotherapy.
