The acute onset of neck pain and arm weakness is most commonly due to cervical radiculopathy or inflammatory brachial plexopathy. Rarely, extracranial vertebral artery dissection may cause radiculopathy in the absence of brainstem ischemia. We describe a case of vertebral artery dissection presenting as cervical radiculopathy in a previously healthy 43-year-old woman who presented with proximal left arm weakness and neck pain aggravated by movement.

The studies of 98 patients who underwent imaging with DE T2, FLAIR and DIR sequences for known or suspected multiple sclerosis were retrospectively reviewed. In 42 cases, a diagnosis of MS had been clinically suspected.

Fifty-one patients with subarachnoid haemorrhage (SAH) due to ruptured intracranial aneurysm have been treated by the Guglielmi detachable platinum coil (GDC) treatment method; 36 patients within 28 days of the ictus. There was total body occlusion in 64.8%, subtotal body occlusion in 24.

Magnetic resonance imaging with magnetic resonance angiography showed multiple foci of chronic cerebral ischaemic change and bilaterally absent ICA.

Guglielmi detachable coils have provided an alternative approach to treatment, but they have their own difficulties. We present a series of three patients with BA aneurysms treated with endovascular occlusion of the aneurysm and basilar trunk.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between the incidence of lumber disk degeneration and bowling technique after 3 yr of educational intervention.
Methods: Two groups of cricketers from the Western Australian fast-bowling development squads acted as subjects in this longitudinal study. Group 1 comprised 24 fast bowlers, of mean age 13.

Infantile dural sinus fistulas are rare and generally have a poor prognosis unless treatment can be undertaken. We report a unique case of an infantile dural sinus fistula with secondary pial recruitment that was managed conservatively. Subsequent spontaneous regression of the lesion occurred over 11 months.

The International Subarachnoid Aneurysm Trial (ISAT) is the first multicentre prospective randomized trial comparing neurosurgery with endovascular coil (Guglielmi detachable coil) treatment of acute subarachnoid haemorrhage. The cost and outcome of endovascular procedures was compared with neurosurgical procedures in the treatment of ruptured intracranial aneurysms within the context of the ISAT.

However, they have been rarely encountered de novo.We present a unique case of a 71-year-old woman who initially presented with right-sided dural arteriovenous fistula (DAVF), which spontaneously resolved after diagnostic arteriography.

This study was performed to determine the influence of using oversized self-expanding nitinol stents on neointimal hyperplasia.
Methods: In six greyhound dogs, 24 self-expanding nitinol stents (eight SMART stents, eight Easy Wallstents, eight Sinus-Flex stents) were inserted into both common carotid arteries (CCAs).
Background And Purpose: The previous decade has witnessed increasing application of Guglielmi detachable coils (GDCs) for the treatment of intracranial aneurysms. However, the midterm angiographic and clinical outcomes are not well documented. We report here the angiographic and clinical outcomes of patients treated with GDCs over an 8-year period.

Traditional management, including superselective infusion of a fibrinolytic agent, was unsuccessful in reestablishing normal vessel patency. Therefore, an intravenous dose of abciximab was administered.

Accurate preoperative diagnosis can be made on the characteristic CT and MR appearances, thereby obviating the need for biopsy. It is important to be aware of the link between LDD and CS so that appropriate genetic counselling and tumour surveillance can be undertaken.

Materials And Methods: Carotid arterial stent placement was attempted in 57 arteries in 53 patients. Thirty-six (68%) of 53 patients were symptomatic.
Endovascular coiling is a well established technique for the treatment of selected intracranial aneurysms, but its long-term efficacy, including the rate of rehaemorrhage from treated lesions, remains to be clearly determined. We report a case in which the rerupture of a small aneurysm occurred 12 months after embolization, despite angiographic occlusion on immediate post-procedural and 6-month check angiography.
