Background: Vaccination has played a crucial role in mitigating the spread of COVID-19 and reducing its severe outcomes. While over 90% of Bangladesh's population has received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose, the comparative effectiveness of homologous versus heterologous booster strategies, along with the complex interplay of factors within the population, remains understudied. This study aimed to compare antibody responses between these booster approaches.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFLowering low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) plasma levels is crucial for the prevention of primary and secondary cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). Many patients struggle to obtain goal LDL-C levels, despite the availability of several lipid-lowering medications, because of limited efficaciousness and unfavorable side effects. Proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) targeting has drawn interest recently as a novel approach to further lower cardiovascular (CV) risk.

Modifications in the physicochemical properties of MXenes pave the way for efficient energy-driven operations such as carbon capture and hydrogen generation. The physicochemical modulations such as interface engineering through van der Waals coupling with homo/hetero-junctions render the tunability of optoelectronic variables driving the photochemical and electrochemical processes.

Background: Maternal health, in terms of pregnancy and childbirth, is an important aspect of women's reproductive health and remains a public health concern in underdeveloped countries of the world. Reproductive health care seeking behavior (RHSB), in both men and women in society, is influenced by a variety of social and environmental factors that needs to be summarized.
Objectives: This review aims to enhance understanding and perception of services in relation to RHSBs in several domains such as antenatal care (ANC), delivery care, postnatal care (PNC), and family planning (FP) services, for married women of reproductive age in Bangladesh.
As global agricultural challenges intensify, particularly drought stress, the exploration of innovative strategies for crop resilience has become crucial. This study focuses on the role of the microbial endophyte metabolite Albaflavenone in enhancing drought resistance in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) through the activation of the SlMAPK1 protein in the MAPK pathway.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFFreshwater harmful algal blooms are often dominated by , a phylogenetically cohesive group of cyanobacteria marked by extensive genetic and physiological diversity. We have previously shown that this genetic diversity and the presence of a microbiome of heterotrophic bacteria influences competitive interactions with eukaryotic phytoplankton. In this study, we sought to explain these observations by characterizing Monod equation parameters for resource usage (maximum growth rate , half-saturation value for growth and quota) as a function of N and P levels for four strains (NIES-843, PCC 9701, PCC 7806 [WT], and PCC 7806 Δ) in presence and absence of a microbiome derived from isolated from Lake Erie.

The study is aimed at identifying the determinants of full vaccination coverage among children aged 12-23 months in Bangladesh and at comparing the determinants between high- and low-performing areas.
Methods: This study used the latest available Bangladesh Demographic and Health Survey 2017-18 data.
We report the near coding-complete genomes of 12 DENV serotype 2 strains collected during the 2023 dengue outbreak in Bangladesh. Analyses showed that all 12 strains were closely related and belonged to genotype II-Cosmopolitan.

We investigate whether electroencephalographic (EEG) desynchronization during hd-tDCS can help account for observed anti-epileptic effects. Defining desynchronization as greater power in higher frequencies such as above 30 Hz ("gamma") and lesser power in frequency bands lower than 30 Hz, we analyzed 27 EEG sessions from 10 RSE patients who had received 20-minute session(s) of 2-milliamperes of transcranial direct current custom-targeted at the epileptic focus as previously determined by a clinical EEGer monitoring the EEG in real-time.

The first three COVID-19 cases in Bangladesh were confirmed on March 8, 2020. Thus, Bangladesh got substantial time to prepare the people and the health systems to respond to the outbreak However, neither the health ministry nor the government was found to rise to the occasion and provide the necessary stewardship for a coordinated and comprehensive response.

Findings are expected to mitigate health sector corruption in the country and contribute to strengthening the health systems.
Method: 2588 news articles on health topics were identified through scanning six leading newspapers in Bangladesh during Mar.
The escalation of harmful pollutants, including heavy metals, due to industrialization and urbanization has become a global concern. To mitigate the negative impacts of heavy metal stress on germination and early plant development, growth regulators have been employed. This study aimed to evaluate the response of mung bean () to zinc stress in the presence of brassinosteroids, focusing on seedling growth and antioxidant potential.

To better understand rural communities' knowledge, attitudes, perceptions and barriers towards these vaccines, we conducted a qualitative cross-sectional study with adults in rural Bangladesh.
Setting: This cross-sectional study was conducted in the rural areas of Sylhet and Natore in Bangladesh from August 2021 to February 2022.
Oryza coarctata (2n = 4X = 48, KKLL) is an allotetraploid, undomesticated relative of rice and the only species in the genus Oryza with tolerance to high salinity and submergence. Therefore, it contains important stress and tolerance genes/factors for rice. The initial draft genome published was limited by data and technical restrictions, leading to an incomplete and highly fragmented assembly.

Introduction: Humanity is suffering from huge and severe difficulties, including changes in climate, soil degradation, scarcity of water and the security of food and medicines, among others. The aquaponics system acts as a closed loop consisting of aquaculture elements and hydroponics, which may contribute to addressing these problems. The aquaponics method is quickly expanding as the requirement to increase the production of sustainable herbal products, including medicinal compounds and foods, in freshwater systems and replenish phosphorous reserves shrinks.

As eggplant is a vital horticultural crop with substantial economic and nutritional value, a comprehensive understanding of its genetic makeup and heterosis effects is essential for effective breeding strategies. Our aim was not only to dissect the genetic diversity among these genotypes but also to determine how genetic distance impacts heterotic patterns, which could ultimately help improve hybrid breeding programs.

We explored 25 relevant articles on PubMed and Cochrane Library after implementing inclusion criteria. Different factors have been postulated and studied that may cause cognitive dysfunction in these patients; structural brain abnormalities, polypharmacy of antiepileptic medication, and neuropsychiatric disorders are the most common causes.
