Zinc oxide (ZnO) micro and nanorods were successfully prepared using and hexamethylenetetramine (HMTA) separately as stabilizers using the solution immersion method. Two types of ZnO seed layer were prepared using the same pre-cursor with the different stabilizers. The fabricated ZnO microrods exhibit absorption at ~375 nm as revealed from the UV-Visible absorption spectrum, and this is comparable with ZnO nanorods synthesized using HMTA.

This study analyzes caloric intake in Iran as a proxy for food security to determine factors associated with caloric intake that could be impacted by policies. We modeled regional heterogeneity by analyzing a complete countrywide dataset disaggregated for rural intra-provincial areas using unique data from the Iranian Statistical Centre for 2007-2016. We applied logistic regression modeling and likelihood ratio tests to assess the association between socio-economic determinants and caloric intake among rural areas of all provinces.

This work aims to utilize fly ash from a thermal power station for melanoidin reduction from distillery effluent by adsorption. To accomplish this, coal fly ash was modified through chemical treatment and was then tested for melanoidin adsorption as a function of various melanoidin concentrations, contact time, and pH. The VP may be the only brain structure where localized lesions in rats replace normal facial "liking" expressions to sweetness with excessive "disgust" reactions, such as gapes and chin rubs, that are normally reserved for unpalatable tastes. Alpha-adducin (Add1) is a critical component of the actin-spectrin network in erythrocytes, acting to cap the fast-growing, barbed ends of actin filaments, and recruiting spectrin to these junctions. Add1 is highly expressed in T cells, but its role in T-cell activation has not been examined. Using a conditional knockout model, we show that Add1 is necessary for complete activation of CD4+ T cells in response to low levels of antigen but is dispensable for CD8+ T cell activation and response to infection.

To compare the effects of 5- and 50-nm naked and PEG-coated gold nanoparticles (AuNP) on proinflammatory cytokines (IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α) expression and histopathological changes in liver and kidneys of rats. Rats were injected with different nanoparticles and sacrificed after 24 h.
